Kingston Showcases New Enterprise-Class SSDNow E50

Kingston, an outstanding developer of various data storage solutions, has recently introduced a new series of solid-state drives intended for enterprise use. Entitled SSDNow E50, the products feature a standard 2.5-inch design and are available in three capacities: 100 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB correspondingly. The new-comer employs SATA III 6 Gb/sec interface and MLC NAND synchronous flash-memory.

Kingston SSDNow E50 takes LSI SandForce-SF2581 controller as the basis. It ensures rather high performance showings. With the purpose to guarantee a stable operation of the drives, to minimize data transfer errors and reduce the cell wear, the manufacturer furnished the models with DuraClass, DuraWrite, S.M.A.R.T., and RAISE technologies. As a result, Mean Time between Failures is estimated as 1.000.000 hours.

In regard to speed characteristics, each model demonstrates the following showings:
— SSDNow E50 100 GB: the max. sequential Read speed – 550 MB/sec, the max. sequential Write speed – 530 MB/sec, the max. random Read speed – 85.000 IOPS, the max. random Write speed – 80.000 IOPS;
— SSDNow E50 240 GB: the max. sequential Read speed – 550 MB/sec, the max. sequential Write speed – 530 MB/sec, the max. random Read speed – 85.000 IOPS, the max. random Write speed – 73.000 IOPS;
— SSDNow E50 480 GB: the max. sequential Read speed – 530 MB/sec, the max. sequential Write speed – 500 MB/sec, the max. random Read speed – 74.000 IOPS, the max. random Write speed – 36.000 IOPS.

The new development from Kingston might be called power-efficient. The junior 100 GB model consumes not more than 2.32 W power, the 240 W model – 2.74 W, and the senior 480 GB model – 3.2 W only. Finally, the company backs each drive with 3-years’ limited warranty.
