Greeting Small-Sized HIS R9 270 iCooler Boost Clock 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

The middle-end lineup of HIS’ proprietary graphics cards has been refilled with a new small-sized model: the R9 270 iCooler Boost Clock 2GB GDDR5. It features 190x125x45 mm dimensions and maintains an etalon clock frequency template. Hence, its price won’t differ too much from the recommended one. The new-comer boasts a bright design with a blue PCB and light-blue fan blades. Despite the appurtenance to the middle-end segment, the card is able to demonstrate quite an appropriate performance.

As seen from the codename, HIS R9 270 iCooler Boost Clock 2GB GDDR5 is equipped with 2 GB of GDDR5 video memory. The latter employs 256-bit interface and runs at 1400 MHz (nominal)/5600 MHz (effective) frequency. The heart of the card is AMD Radeon R9 270 GPU (28 nm, Curacao Pro architecture) with 1280 stream processors, 80 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. Its basic clock frequency makes up 900 MHz, while on overclocking this index rises to 925 MHZ.

New Thunderbolt Edition Graphics Card from Zotac

Zotac, a well-known designer of graphics solutions, has developed a unique in design graphics card. Entitled Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Thunderbolt, this card is heading a new Thunderbolt Edition series that is considered to be a more affordable product than Extreme series. The novice is equipped with an original PCB and an effective cooling system.

Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Thunderbolt is primarily characterized by a unique cooling system that consists of a large aluminum heatsink, three cooper heat pipes which get in contact with GPU from one side, and a couple of 100 mm fans. It should be mentioned that Zotac developers have realized a dedicated Eclean technology in their card that enables a hassle-free demounting of fans and top cover with the purpose of cleaning the cooler from dust.

GK106 chip, designed on Kepler architecture under 28 nm technological process, functions as the basic element in GeForce GTX 660 Thunderbolt card. It involves 960 CUDA cores and operates at 980 MHz …

Qualcomm to Enter Into Contract with GlobalFoundries

Qualcomm, a world-known provider of chips for mobile gadgets, has entered into a contract with GlobalFoundries company with the intention to develop chips based on 28 nm technology. Such information has been voiced by an authoritative Chinese publication Commercial Times, referring to the reliable sources. It is presupposed that the manufacturer will start the first dispatches for Qualcomm in the end of this year. The previously voiced data claimed that Qualcomm had arranged orders of 28 nm chips from UMC with the similar dispatch dates.

The estimated reason for the cooperation with GlobalFoundries is the insufficient delivery of 28 nm chips by TSMC. Moreover, Nvidia is supposedly targeting at the cooperation with one more manufacturer except for the TSMC as well. It should be mentioned that the preliminary memorandum between Qualcomm and GlobalFoundries was concluded in 2010; according to this memorandum, the designer got the access towards 45 nm LP and 28 nm LP technological …
