A Number of AMD Ryzen 5 1600/Ryzen 5 1600X Buyers Had the Luck to Obtain CPUs, Possessing 8 Active Cores

AMD Ryzen 5 CPUs shipments started in spring, however recently the network saw messages of people, reporting they’d got sudden surprise in the shape of their recently acquired AMD Ryzen 5 1600 and Ryzen 5 1600X processors, possessing eight (instead of six) active cores!

System builders detected this peculiarity at the first boot. Base clock, as it is expected, equals to 3.6 GHz, boost clock – to 4.0 GHz. In the meantime, there are eight cores and sixteen threads in action. One may say, lucky customers purchased 1800X models at a discount. Other buyers were also happy to obtain cheaper Ryzen 5 1600 samples.

All these unlocked processing units are produced during the 36th week of the year 2017 in Malaysia. The place and date of release can be easily defined after looking through the marking decryption instruction.

Performance tests demonstrated, that these purchases are real AMD Ryzen 5 1800X CPUs veiled under another marking. What is the reason for that? Some …

Palit to Release GTX 1070 JetStream & GameRock Videocards

Following the official release of Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1070 graphics adapter, the company’s partners have started unveiling their own modifications. Hence, Palit is about to launch four videocards, based on Pascal microarchitecture: GTX 1070 JetStream, GTX 1070 Super JetStream, GTX 1070 GameRock & GTX 1070 GameRock Premium Edition. All greenhorns employ GP104-200 GPU (16 nm, FinFet) with 1920 CUDA, 64 ROPs and 120 TMUs.

These videocards feature an 8-phase VRM system that uses a reliable hardware base, including solid-state capacitors and DrMOS chips. The GPU is accompanied by 8 GB of GDDR5 memory; its clock frequency across the line makes up 2.0/8.0 GHz (256 Gb/sec bandwidth) but for the GameRock Premium Edition model that delivers 2125/8500 MHz frequency & 272 Gb/sec bandwidth.

Cooling of all key components is provided by 2.5-slot coolers. They entail a copper base, a few copper heatpipes, a dual-section aluminum heatsink as well as a pair of 100 mm fans with …

Evga Debuts with a First-Rate ACX CPU Cooler

Evga, a company primarily known for high-end graphics solutions, decided to expand its production line by entering cooling market. Herein, it elaborated a first-rate CPU cooler, entitled ACX (codename: 100-FS-C201-KR). The new-comer features 164x134.5x91.5 mm dimensions and weighs 1065 g. Luckily, it can be already found in free sale for a price of $50.

The ACX is a tower-like air cooler that is able to efficiently remove heat from all processors that are compatible with the following sockets: Intel LGA 2011/1156/1155/1366/1150/775 and AMD FM1/FM2/AM3/AM3+/AM2/AM2+.

Evga ACX consists of an aluminum heatsink, five copper heatpipes that support Direct Touch technology, and one PWM fan of 120 mm dimensional type. The heatsink is composed of multiple thin plates, which differentiate themselves by an unusual framework. Such framework enables the emergence of two airflows around the heatpipes. According to Evga, this promotes for a better heat removal process.
