Nvidia Introduces Pioneer Cloud GPUs of VGX Series

Nvidia VGX platform, that aims at securing virtualization facilities in any PC system, was introduced by the company not so long ago. But this is not the only surprise from the manufacturer, as yesterday it introduced a new cloud GPU solution, a pioneer in graphics industry. Those GPUs are developed on Kepler architecture and are targeted mainly at the employment with GPU-VDI facilities. The launch of such cloud solutions will facilitate GPU virtualization in various environments.

A new series of graphics processing units feature a dedicated hardware template, known as VGX MMU (memory management unit). This is a truly unique technology which allows the Nvidia VGX hypervisor to provide for simultaneous GPU employment by a few clients; at the same time, it ensures consecutive performance, compatibility of various applications, low-latency remote display, and stability of operation. Synology Announces a New DiskStation DS214 NAS

Synology Inc., a well-known Taiwanese manufacturer of high-end network solutions, announces the release of a two-disk NAS, entitled DiskStation DS214. The storage is targeting budget-oriented home and small business customers who long for high performance and stability of system operation. This NAS comes with two 3.5-inch drives, each featuring 4 TB capacity. Herein, the drives are mounted without any tools, by means of rubber shims only.

The DiskStation DS214 is differentiated by a quite low power consumption index. The storage consumes not more than 20W on full load conditions, with the minimal index of 3.65W in sleep mode. This NAS model is based on a two-core processor, running at 1.06 GHz. Its layout also embraces 512 MB of DDR3 memory, gigabit Ethernet port, and a twain of USB ports (3.0 version). Moreover, the case is equipped with a set of LEDs for drives, network, and NAS activity.

Mushkin Showcases New Reactor Solid-State Drives

Mushkin Enhanced is about to launch a new series of top-tier SSDs within the framework of Reactor series. The series, represented by three models of 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB capacity, is targeting up-to-date gaming and high-performance systems. The greenhorns are developed in 2.5-inch form-factor with 7 mm thickness only and SATA III 6 Gb/sec interface.

Mushkin Reactor drives take Silicon Motion SM2246EN controller in cooperation with MLC NAND flash-memory as the basis. Their utmost sequential data transfer speed equals to 560 Mb/sec and 460 Mb/sec on Read/Write operations respectively, while random data transfer speed achieves 74.000 IOPS and 76.000 IOPS correspondingly.

The triple is thought to operate 1.5 million hours without failures in rather tough conditions (in working environments with up to 70 degrees temperature).
