Biostar Unveils A68N-2100 Motherboard for Budget-Oriented Customers

Biostar Microtech has gladdened its budget-oriented customers by the release of a new small-sized motherboard, entitled A68N-2100. This mini-ITX model is elaborated on a two-core hybrid AMD E1-2100 APU (Jaguar core, Kabini platform) with 1 GHz clock frequency. It is accompanied by an integrated Radeon HD 8210 graphics that supports DirectX 11.1 technology. All devotees of Biostar’s innovations might acquire the item for about $50.

Biostar A68N-2100 is developed on AMD A68 chipset that supports APU passive cooling by means of a compact heatspreader. The implemented APU is characterized by low power consumption: in ordinary work conditions it consumes not more than 9 W power. The PCB accommodates two DIMM slots for DDR3 memory modules with the maximal frequencies of 1333 MHz and the ultimate capacity of 16 GB.

Expansion facilities are introduced by only one PCIe slot (2.0 x16). Storage options are realized due a pair of SATA III 6 Gb/sec ports, whereas network facilities have been relied upon gigabit Ethernet adapter and Realtek 8111G controller. The integrated Realtek ALC662 controller takes responsibility for audio production.

The rear section of the PCB houses I/O panel that boasts two video ports (D-Sub and HDMI), RJ-45 socket, two PS/2 ports, four USB ports (a pair of v 2.0 and v 3.0 each), as well as three standard 3.5 mm audio sockets.

Despite the dimensions and budget orientation, the motherboard is thought to support some useful Biostar’s technologies. Most notably, Charger Booster that accelerates the charge-in of the connected mobile device via USB port and BIO-Remote 2 that promotes for the usage of Android-/iOS-based devices as a remote system of PC controlling.
