Hard drives still confidently dominate on the notebook market, according to analysts

SSDs are gradually penetrating into mobile computers, but can not yet can become a serious competitor of hard disk drives. Even recently observed slowdown in demand for notebooks with hard drives will not lead to a decrease of the part pf these models in favour of laptops, where SSD is the main storage, analysts believe.

According to the first quarter of this year, models from the HDD larger than 500GB, offered at $ 450-550, formed the largest segment of the market at a rate of 32% of total deliveries. Second place with 26% take laptops with HDD capacity over 320GB, which cost $ 350-450. They are followed by models with HDD larger than 640GB ($ 550-650 price range), than go HDD larger than 750GB ($ 650-750), they are followed — with 250 GB HDD (price less than $ 350), next — the HDD larger than 1 TB ($ 750-900). Fractal Design Updates Its Core 1000 Chassis to USB 3.0 Version

Fractal Design, an outstanding Swedish PC cases developer, decided to update its mini-tower Core 1000 chassis model with the purpose to heighten its competitive power. Released in 2011, this case has not undergone major design renovations but its layout has been a bit modernized: the manufacturers integrated a single super-speed USB 3.0 port to provide for a better performance.

Codenamed Core 1000 USB 3.0, this chassis features 175x355x420 mm dimensions and supports mini-ITX/micro-ATX motherboards. It’s housed in a totally black, austere casing and has got a grid-like frontal panel with removable anti-dust filters.
