PC Chassis Aerocool Qs-200 Lite Review

PGS Q series of chassis supplied by Aerocool is supposed to be rather successful. Currently, it counts a few different models and Qs-200 Lite is one of them. The very case is a lightweight version of an old-timer Qs-200. Chassis Qs-200 Lite is delivered in two versions: totally black and totally white. Color is their only distinction, since all internal and design parameters are identical.

Design and General Specifications

Aerocool Qs-200 Lite is developed in mini-tower form-factor and features 368x185x405 mm dimensions. Its design is void of any notable details. The frontal panel is made of a dull plastic; it's fixed by six plastic claps that facilitate its easy removal. This panel covers a solid dust filter that contains additional combs, a bay for the installation of a fan (80 mm, 92 mm, or 120 mm), a pair of bays for the installation of 5.25-inch drives, and a single bay for the 3.5-inch drive. The lower part of the panel is taken by a fine-meshed metallic grid with PGS-Q label. Interface panel is introduced by three USB 2.0 ports, one USB 3.0 port, and standard audio outputs for peripherals. Large 'Startup' button and small 'Reset' key serve simultaneously power indicator and drive activity identifiers. LED backlight is located at the key rims.

The rear panel features standard for this class of products design. PSU bay is located in the upper part; it should be mentioned that the unit can be installed twofold: with the upper/lower fan direction. The central part houses a bay for the installation of a single 120 mm fan, and two holes for the management of water cooling system.

Left-side panel accommodates two bays for the installation of fans. Both side panels are equipped with stamped handles for easier demounting; they are fixed by thumbscrews. Right-side and top panels are absolutely blind, as well as bottom panel that is void of any ventilation grids. The case itself is housed on glued rubber stands.

Internal Layout

PC case Qs-200 Lite is predestined to accommodate motherboard of mini-ITX and micro-ATX standard. The maximal height of the supported CPU coolers equals to 160 mm, while the admissible length of the supported graphics cards – 310 mm. The availability of five PCI expansion slots is considered to be a zest of this model. Despite the fact that the case employs one-time plugs and screw-like fixture, an additional slot will gladden immensely all micro-ATX users who long to get two-card configuration.

Aerocool pre-installed a black 120 mm fan to the rear panel. Its rotational speed is estimated at 1200 RPM. Even at utmost speeds, the noise level does not provide any audible inconvenience. This fan receives power via a three-contact socket or via Molex. The case is delivered with eight pre-installed stands for the motherboard installation; in addition, the manufacturer stipulated a special window for the backplate mounting.

The bottom part of the chassis can boast multiple lugs for the efficient cable management. Its frontal part contains the first bay with rubber dampers for the 3.5-inch drive; those dampers feature anti-vibration properties and prevent HDD electronics from the contact with the case. This section also houses a bay for the frontal fan.

Drives stand takes the top-right part of the chassis. Here one can find a pair of 5.25-inch bays with screwless fixture and three 3.5-inch bays. A set of wires includes two USB 2.0 cables, HD Audio cable, button and key cables, and a socket for the internal connection of USB 3.0 with an adapter to USB 2.0.

Mounting

System mounting does not present any unwanted surprises. It's recommended to start mounting from the PSU installation. Further on, it's better to install the CPU cooler, as far as backplate window plays basically an ornamental role. The next step is to install the motherboard and HDD drives. Graphics cards integration is the final step in the case mounting. If there is a need to integrate any SSD, it's better to place it at the top section; still, it will be impossible to realize it without a dedicated adapter.
