Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige: Liquid Cooler with Advanced Facilities

The majority of liquid cooling systems are developed with the implementation of practically identical hardware base. Nonetheless, Cooler Master stepped forward with introducing a cooler that involves the components of a higher level and that can be supplemented by some other components (if necessary). Codenamed Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige, this model is an efficient tool in the hands of true cooling connoisseurs. Still, in order to judge about its efficiency, it’s necessary to review it from different angles.

Specifications

Liquid cooler Eisberg 240L Prestige features the following specifications:

1. heatsink: dimensions – 276x125x30 mm, material – copper;
2. pump: dimensions – 65.7x66.66.9 mm, bearing type – CFF1, performance – 400 liters/hour, nominal voltage – 12 V, noise level – up to 25 dB, recorded power consumption – 6.2 W, MTBF – 50.000 hours;
3. waterblock: material/structure – copper/micro-channel JetStream structure, compatibility – all actual Intel and AMD platforms;
4. fans: amount – 2, dimensional type – 120 mm, bearing type – rifle, nominal voltage – 12 V, maximal power consumption – 1.56 W x2, produced airflow – 60.2 CFM each fan, noise level – 20.5 dB each fan, rotational speed – 1600 RPM;
5. additional info: coolant – propylene glycol, warranty – 2-year limited, nominal kit – fittings for all supported CPU sockets, two steel plates, thermal compound, pump cable, and user’s manual.

Framework Peculiarities

Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige is primarily differentiated by the incorporation of a copper heatsink, instead of an aluminum one. In addition, the model is equipped with a voluminous pump with a plastic transparent window, as well as with thick hoses, coated in a wire braid. All the hoses are fixed by compression fittings, unlike other models with molded hoses. This allows the user to easily demount the system, when there is a need for adding some other components.

The pump deserves special attention. It is developed according to a brand JetStream technology that is thought to create an optimal pressure and coolant speed transfer for efficient results. The coolant is running through twelve linear pipes, equally distributing the thermal current over the copper ribs.

The pump features a transparent window that unveils rotor and liquid activity. This rotor runs at 3600 RPM at 12 V voltage. However, thanks to the dedicated cable with resistor hardware kit, the voltage might be reduced to 9 V; this results in the reduction of rotational speed to 2900 RPM. Copper base of the waterblock is covered by a protective foil that should be removed before installation. It boasts a perfectly polished surface.

Fans

The implemented fans do not differentiate themselves by any innovations. Those are typical 120 mm models with seven-bladed impellers. Still, each fan comes with a soft silicon frame, intended to eliminate vibration transfer to the heatsink case; this considerably reduces the noise level and enhances the airflow on the ribs. Both fans run at a stable 1600 RPM index, due to lack of PWM technology support.

Mounting

Cooler Master Eisberg 240L Prestige is compatible with all up-to-date CPU platforms, thus its mounting won’t trigger any issues. The mounting process itself is realized according to a certain template. First of all, it’s necessary to screw special threaded rods into CPU socket apertures. In its turn, apertures on the waterblock base are intended for two steel plates, which, further on, should be joined with the rods. Thermal compound is applied prior to the waterblock mounting.

The heatsink with fans is installed on the rear or top facet of the chassis. It would be better to fix the fans in a way they could blow in the fresh air from the outside and then direct the airflow to the heatsink.
