Asus Introduces a New Powerful Motherboard Z87-A

The line of Haswell-compatible motherboards from Asus has been recently replenished with a new model – Z87-A. The new-comer is supposed to be the most ‘customer-friendly’ board, due to the correlation of incorporated facilities and price: based on the prime chipset (Intel Z87) on Socket LGA1150 platform, this board boasts an extreme functional combined with the price of $150 only. Thus, it might become a perfect solution for a powerful gaming PC.

Motherboard Asus Z87-A is elaborated in ATX form-factor and supports Intel Core i3, i5, i7, Pentium, and Celeron processors. Memory is represented by four DDR3 DIMM slots that are able to run at the maximal 3000 MHz frequency. Their overall capacity might achieve 32 GB. CPU power supply subsystem involves 8 phases; this is quite enough for a full-scale overclocking. Audio facilities are ensured by the integrated 7.1-channel Realtek ALC892 controller. Network facilities are backed by a separate gigabit Realtek 8111GR controller.

Meet Coolbay TX Casing from Nox

The segment of Mid-Tower casings has just replenished with a new product from Nox manufacturers – Coolbay TX. This model is primarily oriented on customers who put design, layout and performance in the foreground, and who appreciate the possibilities of ‘individual arrangement’ pertained to separate components. The latter concerns mostly the nominal delivery set which is void of fans. Each customer is able to install up to six fans manually and monitor their work (the fans rotation speed) by means of the integrated controller.

Nox Coolbay TX casing is made of steel and goes in black color. Its weight reaches up 9.5 kg which is considered to be quite a lot for the casings developed in Mid-Tower form factor. The casing is equipped with a metallic array, a large transparent window on the side plate, and a handled blue LED. The top plate accommodates an integrated dock-station for a single 3.5 inch or 2.5 inch drive. Coolbay TX stipulated the availability of removable …

Asus to Start Shipping Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC Graphics Card

Next week Asus is going to start shipping its newest graphics card from Radeon R9 series. Codenamed Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC, it is based on an original PCB with black-and-red design and the incorporation of an exclusive DirectCU II cooling system. Plus, the availability of ‘OC’ in the codename implies the availability of factory overclocking.

Asus Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II OC takes GCN Hawaii core with 2816 stream processors as the basis. It operates at an overclocked 1000 MHz frequency. The model is equipped with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory (512-bit bus) that runs at an effective 5400 MHz frequency. Just for a comparison, etalon adapter from AMD runs at 947 MHz/ 5000 MHz for GPU/memory correspondingly.

DirectCU II cooler consists of a heatsink, four copper nickel-plated heatpipes (two of them feature 10 mm dimensions), and two high-performance fans: one ordinary and one CoolTech. The card receives power via 6+8-pin connectors and might require not less than 600 W PSU.
