Midi-Tower Chassis Corsair Obsidian 350D Review

Hardware components, supplied by Corsair, have always been treated as premium-class products. Whether it is an efficient power supply unit or high-performance RAM memory kits — all Corsair elaborations are distinguished by high quality and style. PC chassis are not an exclusion. Much talked-about Obsidian series is now supplemented with one more model – Obsidian 350D. This midi-tower case, intended for the installation of microATX/miniITX motherboards, differentiates from its colleagues by relatively compact dimensions, laconic and stylish design, as well as by an outstanding layout.

Design and Ergonomics

PC chassis Corsair Obsidian 350D is available in two design variations: with a transparent acrylic window on one of the side panels and with an entirely blind side panel. Acrylic window is fixed without any screws or claps; in order to remove it, it’s necessary to unscrew a couple of thumbscrews on the rear facet and move the window back. Like other Obsidian …

Noctua NH-D9L Review

So let’s review an alternative cooling system Noctua NH-D9L which is in many ways similar to the previously released Noctua NH-U9S. It is at least attractive because it is a miniature copy of Noctua NH-D15. But the question is: why was it needed to release two models with similar parameters and effectiveness in the 92mm fan cooler segment, which is not the most popular one.

Equipment

Packaging is on the highest level traditional for Noctua. All the necessary information is presented on the box sides. The following components are included in addition to a radiator and a fan:

• reinforcement plate for Intel LGA115h sockets; • mounting studs for Intel LGA2011 and LGA 2011-3 sockets; • mounting feet and plastic stands for the Intel sockets; • mounting feet, plastic stands and screws for the AMD sockets; • knurled nuts to secure the feet on the Intel sockets; • additional brackets for mounting the second fan; • silicone gaskets for fans; • crosshead …

Deepcool is preparing a new cooler with heat pipes

Deepcool production company of inexpensive and quite efficient cooling systems has provided a sample of CPU cooler — Big Frost (tentative codename), which is an extension of current Frostwin model. Previous model has 4 sintered powder heatpipes, which conduct heat from the processor to protect it from overheating. Also, like a new model, it has 120mm fans.

New model has a simple design, but strict, almost «standard», forms will not prevent it from showing a decent performance. It works with less noise and performs an effective cooling. Big Frost consists of a nickel-plated copper base with a miniature auxiliary radiator, six U-shaped copper heatpipes, each of 6 mm in diameter, and two sections of aluminium plates of similar thickness. Pre-installed fans are running at different speeds. One turns with intensity of 1300 r / min (22.6 dB noise), the other — in the range from 900 to 1500 rev / min (21,4-32,1 dB).
