LaCie Puts 5big NAS Pro Storage on Sale

LaCie, a French supplier of external HDD storages, RAID arrays and network storages, has started the sales of its new NAS storage with network connection. Codenamed 5big NAS Pro, this product is intended to fulfill a range of tasks, including a joint and remote access to files and data backup processes. The storage is estimated for five disk bays and can be best applied in corporate environment.



The new-comer features 173x220x196 mm dimensions and is delivered with a 3-year limited warranty. The users have got a chance to choose between the three variations of the NAS: just a casing without disks, a casing with five disks of 10TB capacity, and a casing with five disks of 20TB capacity. The price fluctuates correspondingly from $529 for just the casing and $2199 for 20TB capacity.

HighPoint Unveils the Specifications of RocketRaid 4520

Right after the announcement of HighPoint about the release of its new RAID-controllers series, the company highlighted some specifications of the upcoming model, codenamed RocketRaid 4520. This controller is based on Marvell Sheeva 88RC9580 processor with ARM core which operates at 900 MHz frequency. The model is notable for the availability of 512 Mb of DDR3 memory type. According to the words of the manufacturer, this RAID-controller is primarily targeted at server systems of average and high level.



RocketRaid 4520 is equipped with eight ports for the connection of drives with SATA and SAS interfaces, along with mini-SAS (6 Gb/sec bandwidth). It employs PCI Express 2.0 x8 interface and supports RAID0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, JBOD configurations.
