Greeting Brand New GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum Videocard from Asus

Following in-house traditions of success, Asus has developed a new graphics card on the basis of a renowned GeForce GTX 780 Ti Poseidon model. The GeForce GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum boasts an original design, seasoned with factory overclocking and a hybrid cooling system. The new-comer is thought to satisfy the needs of high-performance systems with powerful CPUs and multitasking environment. Pricing is unknown so far.

Asus GeForce GTX 980 Ti Poseidon Platinum is based on Nvidia GK110 GPU (Kepler), equipped with 2880 CUDA cores, 48 ROPs and 240 TMUs. All system components are soldered on an offbeat black PCB with PCI Express 3.0 x16 interface. The card features a reinforced power supply subsystem that is designed according to 10-phase configuration with the employment of Super Alloy Power components.

The connection with the PSU is realized through a pair of 8-pin sockets. The maximal TDP level does not go beyond 250 W. The interface panel consists of DL DVI-I, three DisplayPort 1.2 ports and one HDMI 2.0 port.

Memory subsystem is all about 6 GB of GDDR5 memory modules which boast 384-bit rail and 336 Gb/sec bandwidth index. The GPU runs at 1114 MHz (base) frequency but can be overclocked up to 1203 MHz; on activation of OC mode the frequencies might rise up to 1228 MHz. In its turn, memory operates at 7012 MHz frequency.

As far as cooling system is concerned, the card employs a high-efficiency two-slot hybrid cooler. It features a dedicated channel for fluid passage which can be connected to the liquid cooling system thanks to G1/4, G3/8 or G1/2 fittings. The cooler itself comprises a voluminous heatsink, an amplifier board and a few heatpipes.
