AMD Launches a New Driver Package Catalyst 13.8 Beta2

AMD has launched a second version of driver package Catalyst 13.8 that is called to dramatically enhance the efficiency in some games. The soft is compatible with Windows 8/7/Vista OS (32-/64-bit), supporting AMD Radeon (5000/6000/7700/7800/7900 series) and AMD Mobility Radeon (5000M/6000M/7000M/8000M series) GPUs.

Users can expect the following improvements:
— the resolution of problems with the image quality in ‘Van Helsing’ on anti-aliasing activation via Catalyst Control Center;
— the minimization of frame pacing delays in ‘Sniper Elite’, ‘Watch Dogs’, ‘World of Warcraft’, and ‘Tomb Raider’;
— the elimination of game image distortion in ‘Doom 3 BFG Edition’;
— the increase in efficiency in ‘Minimum’ (in CrossFireX), ‘Castlevania Lords of Shadow’ (in CrossFireX), and ‘RIPD’;
— the 9% increase in fps efficiency in ‘Splinter Cell Blacklist’ (Ultra settings);
— the 25% increase in efficiency in ‘Saints Row 4’ (Ultra settings);
— the increase in efficiency for single- and multi-GPU CrossFireX configurations in ‘Final Fantasy XIV’.

Some issues of AMD Catalyst 13.8 Beta2 that should be taken into consideration:
— enabling frame pacing in ‘Bioshock Infinite’ might result the DLC to trigger system hangs; in order to resolve the issue, the user needs to disable frame pacing;
— enabling CrossFire option might end in the PCI Express bus speed for the subsidiary GPU being accounted as x1;
— using CrossFire configurations along with Overdrive might end in the subsidiary GPU usage operating at 99%.
