The Vertical NAS Qnap TS-453Bmini Solution Requires Less Space on Your Desktop

Qnap has launched delivery of a vertical NAS under the TS-453Bmini codename.

This storage offers four vertically arranged slots for 3.5” and 2.5” drives with SATA 6 Gbps interface, which significantly minimizes space, occupied by the device. You do not need a screwdriver to fix drivers in sleds. All sections are covered with a common upper lid. The R/W memory slot is located in the basic part of the framework.

One should also highlight the hot swap, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 arrays formation support and Intel AES-NI hardware encryption with a 256-bit key. The 4-core Celeron J3455 CPU features 4 or 8 GB of DDR3L RAM, distributed over 2 SO-DIMM slots.

The network part consists of two Gigabit Ethernet ports (which can be combined), one USB 2.0, four USB 3.0 ports and an HDMI video output. The 64-bit QTS 4.3 OS supports виртуализацию Linux, Windows, UNIX and Android virtualization, mail and contacts synchronization in a personal cloud.

Enermax Unveils Staray Lite and Staray Silence Chassis

Enermax Technology Corporation, an established manufacturer of varied PC hardware and peripherals, has unveiled a pair of new chassis, codenamed Staray Lite and Staray Silence. Both products are elaborated in mid-tower form-factor (472x185x421 mm dimensions) and are predestined for those users who suppose quality and reliability a must. These chassis feature very similar external design but their internal layout differs a bit.

Models Lite and Staray are ready to house four external drives of 5.25-inch standard, five internal drives of 3.5-inch standard, and seven expansion slots. They support ATX/micro-ATX motherboards and can accommodate up to four 120 mm fans. Additionally, there is a possibility to install a liquid-cooling system, due to the availability of dedicated holes for cables on the rear facet.

Staray Lite is delivered with only one pre-installed 120 mm fan, located on the frontal panel. It can be supplemented by three more fans on the rear and side facets. I/O …

Deepcool is preparing a new cooler with heat pipes

Deepcool production company of inexpensive and quite efficient cooling systems has provided a sample of CPU cooler — Big Frost (tentative codename), which is an extension of current Frostwin model. Previous model has 4 sintered powder heatpipes, which conduct heat from the processor to protect it from overheating. Also, like a new model, it has 120mm fans.

New model has a simple design, but strict, almost «standard», forms will not prevent it from showing a decent performance. It works with less noise and performs an effective cooling. Big Frost consists of a nickel-plated copper base with a miniature auxiliary radiator, six U-shaped copper heatpipes, each of 6 mm in diameter, and two sections of aluminium plates of similar thickness. Pre-installed fans are running at different speeds. One turns with intensity of 1300 r / min (22.6 dB noise), the other — in the range from 900 to 1500 rev / min (21,4-32,1 dB).
