Design Essentials

Taking a peep at BL2711U, it’s possible to claim that the monitor’s design is utilitarian. The case is made of black plastic with opaque coating, whereas the screen gets semi-gloss surface. The bottom-right frame edge houses Power on/off button as well as sensor controls, equipped with white indicators. The central part of the frame features tinted spyhole that veils light and presence sensors.

Power socket and a bunch of interfaces are located in the bottom part of the rear panel. Two USB ports as well as headphones outputs are located on the left-side panel. Rear fine-meshed grille cloaks a pair of speakers with round diffusers, housed in individual acoustic boxes on both corners. The stand is monolith but for the knuckle that might be lifted up and down, thanks to rail mechanism and ball bearing. The upper knuckle allows for the adjustment of the display in different aspects.

The stand’s framework is made of stamped steel with magnesium-aluminum alloy access. The base rests on seven rubber feet & a rubber pad; such assembly is called to reduce vibrations and prevent sliding on different surfaces. If necessary, the customer can fix to the column a dedicated hook for headphones. Besides, it’s feasible to use the display without the stand due to VESA wall mount.

Connectivity

To continue, BenQ BL2711U comes equipped with four digital video inputs: DVI-D, DisplayPort and a pair of HDMI. One HDMI 2.0 supports UHD resolution at 60 frames per second; the second HDMI & DVI-D support UHD resolution at 30 fps. The type of input might be selected through the main menu options; in addition, the monitor offers automatic search for active connection. The availability of 3.5-mm mini-jack provides for the analogue listen-in output.

Menu Layout

Status indicator glows white on active mode, blinks orange in standby mode and deactivates when the monitor is shutdown. Controls backlight is activated on the first touch. The start menu displays information above each of the control. The first three keys offer quick access towards three options: profile settings, access and volume adjustment. The fourth key calls the main menu, whereas the last one exits the menu.

BL2711U facilities boast a specific option that automatically adjusts the brightness, depending upon the outward lighting. Moreover, the display can trace the presence of the user at the PC; if the object is absent for some time, the monitor automatically switches to standby mode.

Image Settings

BenQ has furnished the monitor with a standard list of settings. Color balance might be chosen from three preset profiles. DynamicContrast mode reduces brightness on dark areas and intensifies brightness on light areas. The integration of AMA function is helpful in automatic matrix overclocking. Preset settings are stored in nine profiles, i.e. CAM/CAD, Animation, Low Blue Light, etc.
