A Pair of New Graphics Cards Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition from MSI

MSI has replenished its series of Radeon HD 7950 graphics cards with a pair of new Boost Edition models. Codenamed R7950-3GD5 BE and R7950-3GD5/OC BE, both adapters feature practically identical to the first two releases (of the very series) design. Nonetheless, the novels are known to support AMD ZeroCore with Boost technology that provides for an automatic GPU clock frequency boost on conditions of an increased computing loading. Dynamic clock frequency indices of both models are not so dramatic, since they exceed the nominal showings at 10 MHz only; still, the support of a brand MSI Afterburner utility enables a raise of frequencies to the required level.

The two representatives of MSI Radeon HD 7950 Boost Edition series employ GDDR5 memory with an overall capacity of 3 GB and 384-bit interface. Its nominal clock frequency equals to 1250 MHz, while its efficient frequency achieves 5000 MHz. Memory modules, as well other critical components, are cooled down by a two-slot …

PC Cases Enermax iVektor to Be Launched in Late August

Enermax is going to release its new iVektor series of PC cases already in late August. First seen at Computex 2013, these products draw prime attention due to unusual design and voluminous internal layout. The series counts three models that are differentiated by color: white version – Enermax iVektor (ECA3310A-W), black version – Enermax iVektor (ECA3310A-B), and red version – Enermax iVektor (ECA3310B-R). They are destined to be employed as the basis for the assembling of various system configurations.

All iVektor representatives are developed in midi-tower form-factor, featuring steel and plastic chassis. The cases support ATX/micro-ATX motherboards and seven expansion slots. Internal layout presupposes the incorporation of three 5.25-inch optical drives, as well as seven 3.5-inch drives. The height of a supported power supply unit might not exceed 179 mm.

When the user fills all seven bays for 3.5-inch drives, the maximal admissible length of graphics adapters …

Next year TSMC will start manufacturing the first 20nm chips

The Taiwanese company TSMC confirmed its intention to start production of chips using 20 nm technological processes in 2013. However, for now the company does not plan its production on an industrial scale and will release the first chips in a limited quantities, giving them a total of 1% of production capacity. According to the head of the company, the mass production of semiconductor chips with this technology will not begin until 2014.

Meanwhile TSMC Company is going to produce only one version of the chip, which will be able to enter into the wide range of devices, from smart phones with low-power to high-performance graphics cards. For comparison, the Taiwanese company currently has four different output chips on 28-nm technology. These are 28LP (poly / SiON) for low-power low-cost chips, 28HPL (HKMG) for use in low power applications, 28HP (HKMG) for high-performance chips and 28HPM (HKMG). The latest version combines elements of high-performance chips with high efficiency …
