Foxconn Introduces a Set of Motherboards for Intel Haswell Processors

Foxconn announces the release of several new motherboards, based on Intel H87 and B85 chipsets. The set consists of four models – B85MX, B85MX-D, H87MX, H87MX-D – compatible with the fourth generation Intel Core processors for Socket LGA 1150. The quad is intended for the assembling of small-sized mATX PCs, such as multifunctional office engines or powerful home multimedia centers.

The most outstanding peculiarities pertained to the new motherboards from Foxconn are seen in the support of PCI Express 3.0 bus with the bandwidth of 10 Gb/sec. The interface of the new generation allows integrating the most efficient graphics cards (and other peripherals) by means of dedicated PCIe sockets. Connectivity is supported due to dedicated SATA III ports and USB 3.0 ports.

The boards might accommodate up to 32 GB of DDR3 memory with clock frequencies up to 1600 MHz. The availability of an advanced Realtek audio controller ensures the production of a pure 5.1-channel sounding. All the models under considerations are known to support a galaxy of technologies offered by Intel. Hence, they support an automatic disabling of computing blocks on idle mode, Dynamic Storage Accelerator technology that enhances the performance of SSDs, Rapid Start technology that promptly activates the system after hibernation, and some other facilities.

The only differentiation between all four motherboards is the amount of sockets and ports on the rear facets. For instance, H87MX and H87MX-D models house six USB 2.0, two USB 3.0 ports, a pair of PCI sockets, one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x1 socket. At the same time, B85MX and B85MX-D models offer a couple of additional USB 3.0 ports and one more PCIe x1 socket, while the number of PCI slots has been reduced to a single item. As for the video interface, the boards with ‘D’ postfix in the codename are equipped with VGA and DVI ports, while their companions boast VGA and HDMI ports in the layout.

It should also be mentioned that all Foxconn motherboards are supplied with Fox One software package that provides for the rigorous system monitoring. It allows the user to monitor current thermal conditions, fans rotational speed, voltage index, etc.
