HDD Segment is Given Comforting Forecasts

In consideration of mass transition to solid-state drives by large customer groups, HDD developers are deep in their thoughts about the way to promote their products. Indeed, the era of desktop computers is gradually sinking into oblivion, since more and more users give preference to more advanced compact devices, such as pads, mobile gadgets, etc., which require SSD integration. Still, analysts from some leading IT bureaus give promising forecasts for HDD industry for the upcoming four years.

According to their researches, HDD market will not die but, quite the contrary, will see a significant boost with the hit of supply in 2016. The end of 2012 is not far off, but it's already possible to estimate the overall delivery volumes by a few global HDD manufacturers. Thus, Toshiba, Western Digital and Seagate will increase the rate of supply at more than 4%, as compared with 2011, delivering 502.5 million drives. This index will rise approximately to 575 million items till 2016.

The chief 'ace' of the industry will remain corporate clients who appreciate durability and stability over new technologies. Moreover, some average audiences will turn to desktop PCs as well due to the reasonable HDD pricing and high-cost SDD solutions.

Recent statistics witness about a startling increase of SSD supply throughout the year. Some of SSD companies managed to boost their profit by 50% due to the ever rising demand for the drives. Analysts say that their popularity will continue growing, especially when SSDs become more affordable.
