I-O Data HDL-Z6WL6C2: Spacious Corporate NAS Solutions

I-O Data, an all-around PC hardware developer, strikes the market with the launch of a new NAS series, targeting mainly corporate clients. Codenamed HDL-Z6WL6C2, it comprises four models with identical dimensions (260x235x180 mm, 9.6 kg) but different capacity: 6 TB, 12 TB, 18 TB, and 24 TB. In order to get such spacious network storages, businesses and individual customers will have to loosen purse-strings at the starting price tag of $3200.

The HDL-Z6WL6C2 employ the selected WD Red hard drives, which are bundled into RAID 0, 5 arrays. The models’ framework enables the installation of up to four removable drives; all of them support ‘hot-swapping’ options for a trouble-free replacement. All management processes are realized due to the incorporation of a 64-bit Windows Storage Server 2012 R2 OS.

This NAS comes with a dedicated Intel Atom CPU that operates at 2.13 GHz frequency. The layout also includes 4 GB of DDR3 memory, a pair of eSATA ports, seven USB ports (5x 2.0 and 2x 3.0), one D-Sub video output, and a couple of gigabit Ethernet ports for network connection. Cooling of all internal components is ascribed to two low-noise fans.

Furthermore, the users are able to watch over the drive’s condition and other key parameters thanks to an integrated LCD-display, located on the frontal panel. It should be mentioned that new NAS servers from I-O Data can’t be called energy-efficient, since their TDP level reaches 101 W. With the purpose to facilitate the operation, the manufacturer equips all the storages with a power cable, two Ethernet cables, drive keys, and DVD with user’s guidelines.
