Transcend representatives has recently announced the launch of their new product 2.5-inch PSD520 SSD-drive. According to the company’s concept, PSD520 are destined to secure high performance showings as well as prolonged reliability. Such specifications were achieved due to the implementation of flash microchips with single-layer cell memory location (SLC). Those microchips are able to sustain up to a dozen times more rewriting cycles as compared with multi-layer cell microchips.
SLC microchips have an improved system of defects recovery which enables more efficient operation of the correction system. Moreover, SLC is distinguished by the lesser correlation of defects number per rewriting cycles; such peculiarity allows the correction system to identify the problem and to execute the recovery much faster. Transcend introduces the line of 2.5-inch PSD520 with PATA interface in 4 formats: 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. The drive is equipped with ECC algorithm that ensures the appropriate data transfer. In addition, the process of memory block control and the level of cell deterioration are monitored by the tracking system; this tracking system is intended to secure that the drive showed stability of operation irrespective of the loading rate.
