Monitor Asus PA248Q Review

The market of displays is full of models with the 16:9 height-to-width aspect ratio, what can't be said about 16:10 models which go in quite scant supply. Still, the latter are of great demand among computer enthusiasts. The inventory of monitors produced by Asus includes models of various height-to-width aspect ratio. Currently, the company is introducing exactly 16:10 product, codenamed PA248Q. The chief peculiarity of Asus PA248Q is seen in the availability of USB 3.0 hub that offers advanced facilities for customers.

Design

Design of monitor Asus PA248Q greatly resembles that of its predecessor, PA246Q. The frontal panel contains a red stripe and vertical control buttons. The display is dull and void of loud dirtying. The swivel gear allows the customer to rotate the display 92 degrees clockwise. The stand contains measurement marks with digits that show the degree to which it's possible to raise or rotate the monitor. Vertical control buttons are located on the right side of the frontal panel. The manufacturer has developed a compact joystick for convenient navigation across menu options. Besides, there are two control buttons '1' and '2' which can be ascribed to a certain menu function. This is considered to be quite beneficial for the consumers who get used to work with certain materials on constant basis.

The rear panel contains only Asus logo and ventilation grids. The stand is fixed to the monitor with the help of four screws; there is also a possibility of hanging the display on the wall. All ports and sockets are localized within a separate niche, thus they are not outstanding. Video outputs are represented by HDMI, D-Sub, DVI-D ports; audio output is represented by 3.5 mm socket. There is as well a power supply socket and USB 3.0 port which is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 standard.

The left-side part of the display is dedicated to four USB 3.0 ports. It's an advanced technological approach, since USB hubs of the third version are still new and implemented only in few products.

The nominal delivery set is notable for the availability of CD with necessary drivers, user manual, USB 3.0 cable, and a set video cables (DisplayPort, DVI-D, D-Sub.

To continue, the implemented menu facilities allow the customer to select the most suitable operational mode. For this, the menu offers a range of settings available for selection.
