Gigabyte GA-F2A78M-D3H: Motherboard with Full Support for AMD Kaveri

Gigabyte has thoroughly prepared for the official launch of hybrid Kaveri APUs from AMD by designing a series of compatible motherboards, including a new micro-ATX GA-F2A78M-D3H model. The board is characterized by the availability of multiple interfaces and expansion slots, despite its modest dimensions (244x244 mm). It is based on AMD A78 chipset, supporting AMD A and Athlon II APUs (of Kaveri generation) for socket FM2+.

The motherboard offers four DIMM slots for the installation of DDR3-2400 MHz modules of up to 64 GB capacity (two-channel mode). It is able to house both, the modules supporting AMD Memory Profile and Intel Memory Profile profiles. Audio subsystem operates under the facilities of an integrated Realtek ALC887 codec; it ensures the production of 7.1-channel HD Audio sounding. Network powers are backed by gigabit Realtek RTL8111E controller.

Asus A88X-Pro Motherboard Review: Ahead of Its Time

The elaboration of completely new APUs, codenamed Kaveri, compelled AMD work up one more suitable CPU socket – FM2+. Once after its launch, the leading manufacturers of motherboards have reacted on-the-fly, releasing proprietary models for a new platform. Asus, as usual, was among the first to introduce fresh solutions. Motherboard A88X-Pro is remarkable by the support of upcoming APUs, though it will be still possible to incorporate hybrid processors of the current generation for Socket FM2. For sure, this is not a mere advantage of the board. Let’s have a look at some other specs.

Key Peculiarities

Asus A88X-Pro is developed on AMD A88X chipset and houses an onboard Radeon HD 7000/8000 series graphics. The PCB allots 4 DIMM slots for DDR3 SDRAM modules. An overall capacity of modules set might achieve 64 GB, whereas an ultimate supported clock frequency makes up 2400 MHz. Expansion section is not as bright as a demanding customer would desire; nonetheless, it …

Galaxy Unveils a Shortened Version of GeForce GTX 760 Adapter

Galaxy Microsystems, a reliable partner of Nvidia, has recently unveiled its own, shortened version of GTX 760 graphics adapter. Codenamed Galaxy GeForce GTX 760 GC Mini, the card employs a reference GK104 GPU (28 nm), but is differentiated by an original PCB and a factory overclocking. The implemented circuit board features 193 mm length dimensions and is elaborated on a blue textolite.

The new-comer is furnished with 1152 CUDA cores that run at 1019 MHz but can be overclocked up to 1084 MHz. Video subsystem is introduced by GDDR5 modules with 256-bit interface. The overall capacity of modules makes up 2 GB. The GDDR5 demonstrates rather striking performance, considering the card’s middle-end destination: the modules are able to gain 6008 MHz clock frequency.

Power supply is organized according to 5+2-phase scheme, where five phases are allotted to GPU. A pair of 6-pin PCI Express Power connectors is used to provide additional power supply to the card. I/O interface …
