New Mini-ITX Motherboard H87E-ITX/ac from ASRock

ASRock, a Taiwanese manufacturer of motherboards, is eager to introduce its new elaboration – motherboard H87E-ITX/ac. The new-comer is designed in a compact mini-ITX form-factor and is destined for the creation of compact desktop systems. Chipset Intel H87 Express in combination with Intel Core (4th generation) LGA 1150 processors provide for utmost stability and high performance in the majority of working modes.

ASRock H87E-ITX/ac houses two slots for RAM memory modules of DDR3 type; the maximal volume of supported memory might achieve 32 GB. The board takes power by means of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors. Digi Power system, featuring DrMOS voltage regulators, allots four phases for providing power supply to the CPU. Expansion of facilities becomes possible due to a single PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot, a single miniPCI Express slot, a single eSATA port, and six SATA III 6 Gb/sec ports.

Network facilities are guaranteed by gigabit Ethernet port, Bluetooth 4.0 module, …

Intel Broadwell CPUs will Get BGA Casing

The Internet community is energetically discussing unofficial info concerning the future Intel's Broadwell processors. According to the yet unacknowledged data, Intel will branch off from currently traditional LGA casings in favor to a more advanced BGA solution. At present all CPUs designed by Intel specifically for desktop platforms feature LGA (Land Grid Array) casings which allow the users to upgrade their systems without any hassle. On LGA implementation, the chip is housed within a socket and contacts with the motherboard. As a result, the user might change one chip to the other only with similar set of contacts.

The launch of Intel Broadwell processors, which is planned for 2014, might dramatically change the situation for customers. Most probably Intel will refuse from LGA casings and accommodate all new CPUs in BGA ones, marking the change of Haswell generation to the future Broadwell generation developed under 14 nm technological process. Which DDR3 SDRAM is better for Ivy Bridge

The overclocker memory is now in the category of products for perfectionists, still the common users are pleased with usual modules DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1333 SDRAM. The issue appears related to the release of processors Ivy Bridge series, which in some aspects are similar to its predecessors, still have some distinctive features.

Ivy Bridge processors are restricted on the maximum frequency supported by the DDR3 SDRAM. This indicates the theoretical chance of these processors work with high-speed memory DDR3-3200 SDRAM. Developers of overclocker memory package perceived the change in rules with certain enthusiasm: there are DDR3-2400 modules available in stores. The gap in frequencies of «elite» and «running» versions of the memory has grown twice in size. It won’t have a noteworthy blow on the work of commonly used tasks in systems.

The memory controller in the Ivy Bridge can work both in symmetric mode, with delay, frequency and volume modules in memory channels, and …
