SilverStone Debuts with SST-ST30SF Power Supply

SilverStone Technology has recently introduced its newest SFX power supply unit. Codenamed SST-ST30SF, it features 125x100x63.5 mm dimensions and weighs 800 g only. The unit is estimated for 300 W power and is capable to demonstrate more than 81% efficiency in 230 V networks. High efficiency level allowed the model to gain 80Plus Bronze certificate.

The most uncommon feature ascribed to SST-ST30SF is that it can operate in passive mode if thermal conditions allow. The unit is equipped with a fan of 80 mm dimensional type; it starts rotating only when the surrounding temperature reaches 55 degrees. This promotes for a considerable power reduction and practically silent work when the fan gets disabled. An average noise level on active operation makes up 18 dB.

SilverStone furnishes the new entry with a single +12V rail, estimated for 22 A current. In its turn, +3.3V rail is estimated for 21 A current, while +5V rail – for 20 A current. It should be noted that this unit …

Disk Station Buffalo Technology LinkStation Mini Review

Up-to-date disk stations for home utilization usually employ from a single up to four hard drives of 3.5-inch form-factor. They are intended to offer sufficient storage capacity and an unmatched performance during operation. LinkStation Mini disk server from Buffalo manufacturers is a compact solution for all home-based data storage needs. Currently, the series is represented by four models: in black and white colors and with drives of 500 GB and 1 TB capacity. One should not confuse these models with those released by this manufacturer several years ago, as today's devices have got a completely new hardware platform.

Design

LinkStation Mini is notable for exceptionally compact dimensions (if considering rival disk stations) which equal to 40x135x82 mm. The casing is made of black glossy plastic and can be adjusted in two positions (vertical and horizontal) due to the availability of rubber feet on the two sides of the device. The frontal panel accommodates a …

Asus Teases Turbo GeForce GTX 1080 Videocard

Asus has just introduced Turbo GeForce GTX 1080 videocard with etalon frequencies & a modified cooler. The model is developed on Nvidia GP104-400 GPU (2560 CUDA, 160 TMUs, 64 ROPs) that operates at 1607/1733 MHz frequency. The integrated GDDR5 memory (8 GB, 256-bit interface, 320 Gb/sec bandwidth) runs at 10 GHz frequency.

The card is coated in a dark-gray cover with logo illumination. The PCB is designed with the help of Auto-Extreme technology as well as Super Alloy Power II hardware. The other peculiar feature is a totally revamped cooling system. As distinct from the etalon model, the Turbo version employs a single fan, based on dual ball-bearings, which pushes hot air away from the GPU.

The greenhorn comes equipped with a pair of HDMI ports for the connection of various devices, including VR-helmets. There are also DVI-D and DisplayPort 1.4 ports. The PCB features a single 8-pin power connector. Asus Turbo GeForce GTX 1080 supports GPU Tweak II & Xsplit Gamecaster …
