Biostar B85Z: Micro-ATX Mainboard for Audiophiles

Biostar is about to release a new oblectation for audiophiles – the B85Z system board. Featuring micro-ATX form-factor (224x174 mm dimensions), the model combines a full-blown spectrum of facilities each full-format board has. It is developed on Intel B85 Express chipset with Socket LGA1150 for Intel Haswell processors of Core, Pentium and Celeron families. The nominal delivery kit will allegedly comprise DVD with drivers, a pair of SATA cables, a user’s manual, and a rear panel plug.

Biostar B85Z comes equipped with prime-quality capacitors, field-effect transistors, and 4-phase VRM. Memory subsystem is introduced by two slots for DDR3-1600 MHz modules (up to 16 GB overall capacity). The availability of a single PCIe x16 & a pair of PCIe x1 slots ensures sufficient expansion facilities. Asus introduces to the European market its newest graphics card Asus GeForce GTX 760 DirectCU Mini (codename GTX760-DCMOC-2GD5) that is distinguished by compact dimensions. The model is based on a shortened PCB with PCI-e 3.0 x16 interface, featuring 170x120x40 mm dimensions. This provides for its employment in the cooperation with small-sized mini-ITX motherboards. The new-comer is equipped with a two-slot cooler, embracing a vapor chamber and a high-efficient CoolTech Fan of an original framework.

The heart of the adapter is GK104 GPU that contains 1152 CUDA cores, 32 ROPs, and 92 TMUs. The growth of laptop shipments in the second quarter was 5%

Global laptop shipments have faced with glut stocks in March and a weakening global economy in May. That caused the situation of reaching a growth of supply in the second quarter of the year only for 5% compared with the previous, and it fell by 1.8% compared with this period year ago. Shipments totalled just over 50 million units, according to analysts.

Numbers of Acer and Lenovo laptop shipments were at the average level on the world market in comparison the first quarter of the year. Shipments of mobile PCs from HP, Dell and Toshiba have fallen to 4-7%. Most of all with the increase of supply by 36% managed its shipment the ASUS Company.

It is interesting that HP may soon lose its title of leader in the laptop market — China's Lenovo breathes down its neck, lagging behind only with 500,000 units.
