Qualcomm to Enter Into Contract with GlobalFoundries

Qualcomm, a world-known provider of chips for mobile gadgets, has entered into a contract with GlobalFoundries company with the intention to develop chips based on 28 nm technology. Such information has been voiced by an authoritative Chinese publication Commercial Times, referring to the reliable sources. It is presupposed that the manufacturer will start the first dispatches for Qualcomm in the end of this year. The previously voiced data claimed that Qualcomm had arranged orders of 28 nm chips from UMC with the similar dispatch dates.

The estimated reason for the cooperation with GlobalFoundries is the insufficient delivery of 28 nm chips by TSMC. Moreover, Nvidia is supposedly targeting at the cooperation with one more manufacturer except for the TSMC as well. It should be mentioned that the preliminary memorandum between Qualcomm and GlobalFoundries was concluded in 2010; according to this memorandum, the designer got the access towards 45 nm LP and 28 nm LP technological …

Monitor BenQ GW2750HM Review

Some year-two ago monitors with large 27-inch displays employed only TN+Film panel types. Their price, of course, was not affordable for the entry-level and average customer sectors. But today, 27-inch products are not rarity and, moreover, they are developed also on an advanced AMVA panel type at a more reasonable price. BenQ marveled its customers last summer by the release of an outstanding monitor, codenamed GW2750HM, based exactly on AMVA panel. Its alluring price also added to the product's popularity.

Reference Data

Monitor BenQ GW2750HM employs AMVA panel (M270HW02 V1), designed by AU Optronics, with W-LED lighting. The latter is called to reduce power consumption and add some neatness to the design. This panel's response time is estimated at 4 ms that is considered to be an optimal index for such type of products. The model features 27-inch display with 1920x1080 resolution, 178/178 viewing angles, 5000:1 static contrast, and 20 million to 1 dynamic contrast. The …

ECS to Implement AMD Memory Profile Support into Its Motherboards

AMD has won a reputation not only for designing and supplying high-end processors but also for introducing its brand memory expansion, codenamed AMD Memory Profile. This development is called to store and share memory settings profiles and to facilitate the search for the most rational settings. Thus, ECS company is going to implement AMP support for DDR3 memory into its future and current lineup of motherboards. According to the available data, AMP technology will be applied to the upcoming motherboards with AMD processors, and to the current products by means of UEFI firmware update. This is the first 'revival' of the technology since its reconsideration and upgrade.

The integrated technology is destined to setup new frequency, voltage and timings showings which will facilitate in keeping DDR3 memory modules stable. As a rule, random-access memory with high frequencies of more than 2GHz require manual system overclocking. AMP will prevent the emergence of errors while setting …
