Biostar Unveils A68N-2100 Motherboard for Budget-Oriented Customers

Biostar Microtech has gladdened its budget-oriented customers by the release of a new small-sized motherboard, entitled A68N-2100. This mini-ITX model is elaborated on a two-core hybrid AMD E1-2100 APU (Jaguar core, Kabini platform) with 1 GHz clock frequency. It is accompanied by an integrated Radeon HD 8210 graphics that supports DirectX 11.1 technology. All devotees of Biostar’s innovations might acquire the item for about $50.

Biostar A68N-2100 is developed on AMD A68 chipset that supports APU passive cooling by means of a compact heatspreader. The implemented APU is characterized by low power consumption: in ordinary work conditions it consumes not more than 9 W power. The PCB accommodates two DIMM slots for DDR3 memory modules with the maximal frequencies of 1333 MHz and the ultimate capacity of 16 GB.

Expansion facilities are introduced by only one PCIe slot (2.0 x16). Storage options are realized due a pair of SATA III 6 Gb/sec ports, whereas network facilities …

MSI Z77A-GD65 - Common LGA1155-board by Micro-Star Company

Like the other major motherboard manufacturers, the company Micro-Star Intel thoroughly prepared for the appearance of Ivy Bridge processors and new chipsets of seventh series. Motherboard companies use simple and understandable system of names, that is why it is not difficult to arrange in order of seniority, all six motherboards based on the logic of Intel Z77 Express, from the main MSI Z77A-GD80 to younger Z77A-G43 and the small Z77MA-G45.

The box, in which comes motherboard MSI Z77A-GD65 is traditionally designed. The front side is decorated with different logos and the centre has a large poster. On the reverse side of the box there is a summary of some advantages and features of the board.

One of the characteristic weaknesses about motherboards of Micro-Star Company is the lack of panels to display USB 3.0 ports on the front wall of the chassis. The layout of the motherboard MSI Z77A-GD65 is close to the classical, and therefore it not only looks good, but is easy to …

Velox V55 and Slim S55: Two New SSD Series from Silicon Power

Silicon Power, a well-known developer of flash-memory drives, as well as HHD and DRAM, has replenished its inventory with two new SSD series, codenamed Velox V55 and Slim S55. All the models included into the lineups are traditionally designed in 2.5-inch form-factor. Both series will be represented in the market by three models of 60 GB, 120 GB and 240 GB capacity. Their major advantage over rival products lies in acceleration of all operations connected with upload, speed boosting and general performance. Therefore, these SSDs are just perfect for ‘highly-demanding’ users.

Velox V55 solid-state drives are housed in resistant cases made of polished aluminum. All three models feature identical dimensions: 100x70x9 mm and weigh 79 g. The drives are based on SandForce controller and employ SATA III (6 Gb/sec) interface. The maximal sequential speed index claimed by the developer approximates 550 Mb/sec on reading operations and 470 Mb/sec on writing operations. Velox V55 …
