Point of View strengthens GeForce GTX 680 UltraCharged 4GB of memory

Dutch manufacturer of discrete graphics Point of View considered as a good idea to equip one of the top-end versions GeForce GTX 680 with the prefix UltraCharged with four gigabytes of memory. This graphic card can be a good alternative to existing POV / TGT GTX 680 UltraCharged with 2GB buffer.

The new model, as well as it «precursor», is using the reference design PCB Nvidia with the configuration of additional power connectors PCI-E Power (6 +8)-pin. Typically, the PCB for GeForce GTX 680 is equipped with only four power phases for the GPU, but the version of the UltraCharged Point of View / TGT the fifth one added.

The frequencies remained the same: 1111 MHz for the graphics core (1176 MHz in turbo mode) and 6008 MHz for the 4 GB of memory GDDR5. Under three-slot cooling system, there is GK104 chip in the composition of 1536 shaders and 256-bit memory bus. Point of View marketers emphasize that the graphics processor for the graphics cards GTX 680 UltraCharged …

AMD Announces the Development of Steamroller

Heightened demand for high-end processor solutions and ever rising competition make AMD constantly develop its products. This usually results in the release of really outstanding items, such as already acknowledged Bulldozer and Piledriver. Therefore, according to the words of the companies technical manager, Mark Papermaster, the development of a new processor architecture, codenamed Steamroller, is already on order of AMD's business. The ready-made products are sure to be released next year. Steamroller is called to become the third edition of Bulldozer architecture that launched last year and a loyal companion of Piledriver core.

The initial data witness that processors on Steamroller architecture will be designed in correspondence with 28 nm technological process. This should favorably affect their efficiency and enlarge the performance by 15-20% at equivalent power consumption and clock frequency. At the same time, Steamroller will improve all specifications implemented in …

Background illumination PaintPack - analogue Philips Ambilight on your monitor

You've probably seen the modern TVs with dynamic backlight called Ambilight, developed by Philips. The essence of its work is to highlight the space behind the TV in different combinations of colours, depending on the events happening on the screen.

A new development called PaintPack is presented. This model is intended to implement the same idea as the technology of Ambilight, but allows to «light around» any computer monitor. A device called PaintPack is a simpler version in a small box with ten cable-trains, which have bright LEDs at the ends. These LEDs are placed evenly around the perimeter of the back of the monitor, and provide illumination in accordance with what is happening at the moment on the screen. The second more advanced equivalent of Ambilight – is light-line PaintPack with 30 LEDs connected in separate blocks for a few pieces for easy placement on the screen, and create a more vibrant and detailed lighting. This is many times …
