First displayed at Computex 2015, the Z170A Gaming Pro motherboard from MSI is now available for the web community. The company teases the first shot of the extended ATX model, showing off its main privileges. The new-comer is based on Intel Z170 chipset, intended for Socket LGA 1151-compatible Intel Skylake CPUs. Its key visual attraction is the availability of a stripe with RGB illumination on the right side. The stripe supports 8 working modes and is able to display up to 16.5 million colors.

MSI Z170A Gaming Pro comes equipped with 4x DIMM slots for the integration of DDR4-3300 MHz memory modules (maximum capacity – 64 GB). Storage subsystem is introduced by four SATA 6 Gb/sec ports and a single SATA Express port (compatible with two SATA 6 Gb/sec ports). The socket is powered by a 8-pin connector, whereas the PCB draws power from a 24-pin ATX one.

Furthermore, the connection of graphics cards might be realized via two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots; other expansion cards are …

Toshiba to Release Entry-Level A100 Solid-State Drive

Toshiba is about to release a 2.5-inch SSD, entitled A100. The entry-level model is based on TLC NAND flash memory chips (15 nm) with the cooperation of SLC cache memory. Traditionally, the drive employs SATA 6 Gb/sec interface and takes Toshiba TC58NC1010 chip as a controller.

The greenhorn is available in two versions: 120 GB and 140 GB (dimensions: 100x69.85x7 mm). The couple is an optimal choice for home & office PCs, thanks to the incorporation of power-efficient, high-performance and shock-proof technologies. The drives’ maximal data transfer speed on sequential operations makes up 550 MB/sec & 480 MB/sec (read/write). The maximal data transfer speed on random operations (4K) achieves 87.000 IOPS & 82.000 IOPS correspondingly.

Toshiba A100 solid-state drives are known to support NCQ, TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. technologies. An estimated MTBF index equals to 1.5 million hours. The 120 GB item might endure 30 TB of written information, while the 240 GB item allows for 60 TB …

Meet New Gigabyte G1 Gaming Motherboards on Intel 9th Series Chipsets

Gigabyte has officially introduced a new line of motherboards based on the innovative Intel Z97/H97 chipsets. The G1 Gaming series features a traditional black-and-red PCB design and is supposed to cooperate with Intel Core CPUs (4th and 5th generation). Far and by, the series counts thirteen models of varied formats (ATX, micro-ATX, mini-ITX), with varied functional. Such a variety will help gamers of different levels to select an optimal model so far as the price and facilities are concerned.

Indeed, each motherboard boasts a singular set of facilities, although there are some common to all 13 models specifications:

— support for Multi-GPU technologies, i.e. Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFireX;

— availability of SATA Express connector with 10 Gb/sec bandwidth;

— integration of high-speed M.2 port with up to 10 Gb/sec bandwidth;

— availability of two external ports for a stable output voltage: Gigabyte USB DAC-UP;

— implementation of high-efficiency network …
