Cooler Master introduces power supply unit Silent Pro Platinum in denomination of 1000 and 550

The official website of Cooler Master describes detailed characteristics of the first PSU of

Silent Pro Platinum series. According to the statements, the contractor Enhance Electronics

has developed models with capacity of 550 and 1000 W. Their system effectiveness measure

(90% to 94% with 230v) distinguishes them among other offers. These measures also guarantee

moderate heat excretion.

Senior kilowatt power supply unit provides a supply of up to 984 watts of power on the +12 V

line, the youngest – up to 540 W. 135-mm fan on the hydrodynamic bearing is respective for the

cooling of both the representatives of the Silent Pro Platinum line.

In the composition of power sources heat-resistant capacitors made in Japan, the transformer

LP9, aluminum radiators, double EMI filter and active power factor correction mechanism

are used. Cooler Master reports about the possibility of constructing chords 4-Way SLI and

CrossFireX (with Silent Pro Platinum 1000W) and …

Intel to Take Care about Power-Efficiency of Ivy Bridge Processors

The rising competition between the two giants in the manufacture of processing units, Intel and AMD, makes each of the two invent ever newer technologies and implement them in their products. The attempts to dominate in the market and win as many consumers usually develop into brand new approaches and brand new advanced facilities.

In this light, Intel is going to upgrade its Ivy Bridge processors to make them more power-efficient. But power-efficiency does not imply that processing units will show less performance; quite the contrary, the manufacturer is willing to combine an utmost performance with the maximal power efficiency level.

Currently, the most power-saving processors of Ivy Bridge generation can be found in mobile devices on Windows platform and in Apple MacBook Air devices. Their TDP level is recorded at 17W. As appears from the above mentioned, the TDP level in upgraded Ivy Bridge processors will be lower than 17W, though the developers do not voice the margin …

Greeting PowerColor Radeon R9 290X New-Generation Graphics Cards

PowerColor has officially introduced a pair of high-efficiency graphics cards developed on the new-generation Radeon R9 290X series adapters. Codenamed PowerColor Radeon R9 290X, both new-comers support the latest graphics technologies, i.e. DirectX 11.2 and OpenGL 4.2. The models feature a totally identical design, still there is one differentiation: one of the models is equipped with a key to Battlefield 4 game. Such ‘bonus’ has resulted in a bit heightened price of $580, if compared with the standard model that costs $550.

Both cards are based on AMD Hawaii XT chip. It has been dynamically overclocked by PowerColor to 1030 MHz, whereas the nominal clock frequency remained the same – 800 MHz. In order to enhance the performance, the GPU has been supplemented with 4 GB of GDDR5 memory with 512-bit interface that runs at 5000 MHz.

To proceed with the specifications, both graphics adapters accommodate four rear video ports (HDMI, DisplayPort, DVI-I, and DVI-D). …
