Qualcomm Unveils Snapdragon 425, 435 & 625 Mobile CPUs

Qualcomm has added three new mobile processors to its Snapdragon lineup. The Snapdragon 425, 436 and 625 boast improved functional, higher level of performance as well as longer-time of off-line operation for tablets & smartphones. The triplet entails 4/8 ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores which run at 1.4 GHz (425, 435)/ 2.0 GHz (625 model) frequency.

The least efficient CPU is Qualcomm Snapdragon 425. It’s equipped with Qualcomm Adreno 308 graphics core and shows compatibility with eMMC 5.2 drive, LPDDR-667 MHz RAM, 16-megapixel cameras of 1280x720 resolution. Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 accommodates a more efficient Adreno 505 graphics core. It is able to cooperate with LPDDR3-800 MHz memory, internal eMMC 5.1 drives as well as external SD 3.0 memory cards.

Zalman Intros Three New Graphics Cards with VF1500 Cooler

Zalman, a well-known manufacturer of CPU coolers, PC cases and graphics solutions, introduces three new graphics card models, codenamed GeForce GTX 600 D5 OC VF1500, GeForce GTX 660 Ti D5 VF1500 and GeForce GTX 660 Ti D5 OC VF1500. All three models are equipped with a brand two-slot VF1500 cooler. Its framework consists of four heatpipes which transfer heat from GPU surface to an aluminum heatsink. This heatsink is accompanied by a couple of 92 mm fans, the maximal rotational speed of which achieves 1500 RPM. If compared with a reference cooler, VF1500 reduces GPU operational temperature at 25 degrees (from 81 to 56 degrees), producing 10 dB less noise (26 dB vs 36 dB).

The first model is based on Nvidia GK106 processor, designed under 28 nm technological process. It is characterized by heightened clock frequencies: nominal 1006 MHz against reference 980 MHz, and dynamic 1059 MHz against reference 1033 MHz.

A New Series of Haswell-Based Gigabyte Brix Mini-PCs

The appearance of Brix mini-PCs last spring was Gigabyte’s debut in this market segment. The first products were elaborated specifically for Intel Ivy Bridge processors. However, the company decided to update the line of ultra-compact PCs with four new models. Entitled GB-BXCE-2955, GB-BXi7-4500, GB-BXi5-4200, and GB-BXi3-4010, the products are characterized by the support of power-efficient Intel Haswell CPUs.

The most efficient model is Gigabyte GB-BXi7-4500 with the integrated Intel Core i7-4500U processor (1.8/3.0 GHz), whereas the least efficient turns to be Gigabyte GB-BXCE-2955, based on Intel Celeron 2955U (1.4 GHz). At the same time, Gigabyte GB-BXi5-4200 is equipped with Intel Core i5-4200U CPU (1.6/2.6 GHz) and Gigabyte GB-BXi3-4010 comes with Intel Corei3-4010U solution (1.7 GHz).
