Intel Intros 525 SSD Series for High-Performance Systems

Intel replenishes its SSD product line with 525 series that is distinguished by utmost facilities and power-saving properties. Intel 525 embraces six models of 30GB, 60GB, 90GB, 120GB, 180GB, and 240GB capacity that are predestined to be employed in high-performance systems. Due to compact dimensions (3.7x50.8x29.85 mm), these solid-state drives are appropriate for handheld small-sized devices, such as ultrabooks, tablets, all-in-one solutions, and embedded systems. According to Intel's developers, the models are eight times smaller in size than traditional HDDs of 2.5-inch form-factor.

Intel 525 are known to employ mSATA interface with PCI Express mini-slot. All models are based on a multi-level NAND flash-memory developed under 25 nm technology. The drives support 128-bit encryption technology that takes Advanced Encryption Standard as the background; this standard functions as an additional data security means in case of loss or theft.

Apacer to Release DDR3 Memory Modules of Armor Series

About a month ago Apacer Technology announced the release of new DDR3 memory modules to replenish Armor series. Codenamed Apacer Armor DDR3, these modules are chiefly targeting overclockers and inveterate gamers who long for the high-speed performance in various environments. Good news for all Apacer's customers is that the release of these outstanding products is scheduled for the mid January, 2013.

Modules Armor DDR3 consist of heatsinks which resemble 'armor', while the series itself is represented by the items of various colors, including red, yellow, blue, and black versions. This way the customer will be able to select the most suitable module to correspond to the overall chassis and motherboard color gamma. The heatsinks feature quite typical dimensions and this automatically eliminates all problems connected with the installation of voluminous CPU coolers.

The implemented printed circuit board is given black coverage in combination with eye-catching yellow, blue …

Plextor Debuts with M.2 6G Solid-State Drive

Plextor, an award-winning Japanese SSD designer, launches its another M.2 solution, codenamed 6G. This drive features 42 mm length only, fulfilling space requirements of small-sized but high-performance cases. The new-comer is available in two capacity variations: 64 GB (PX-64M6G-2242) and 128 GB (PX-128M6G-2242). Their retail price makes up $50 and $90 respectively.

Both Plextor M.2 6G solid-state drives come with PCI Express 2.0 interface. They are based on Marvell 88SS9188 controller and 19 nm MLC NAND flash-memory with Toggle interface (by Toshiba). The models support TRIM and NCQ technologies as well as DEVSLP power-efficient mode that reduces power consumption to 0.2 mW.

As far as speed characteristics are concerned, M.2 6G accelerate up to 520 Mb/sec on sequential Read operations; sequential Write index depends on the model: 160 Mb/sec for 64 GB model and 210 Mb/sec for 128 GB one. At the same time, random Read/Write operational index (4K blocks) makes up …
