AMD FX-8350 Review: Improved and Advanced

Processors AMD FX Vishera are considered to be 'heavy metal' in the AMD's inventory. They belong to the products of the second generation and employ an advanced Piledriver architecture. This architecture is intended primarily at managing multi-threading applications to provide for improved performance, if compared with CPUs of the first generation. In addition, FX Vishera chips feature reasonable correlation of power, facilities and price.

Platform and Architecture

CPU AMD FX-8350 is compatible with motherboards which contain AM3+ socket and high-performance logics AMD 990FX, AMD 970, and AMD 990X. It should be noted that boards with such chipsets are able to offer two additional PCI Express x16 sockets which are characterized by high speed index on integration of two video adapters. AMD FX series consists of four CPU models; FX-8350 and FX-8320 house eight cores, FX-6300 feature six cores, while junior model FX-4300 contents itself with only four cores.

Chieftec Navitas Gets a 450-Watt Update

First launched in 2013, Chieftec Navitas series of PSUs included five high-efficiency models of up to 1250 W power. This year the company has introduced four new editions to the family which are characterized by low power: 450 W, 550 W, 650 W, and 750 W. This update is called to satisfy the needs of unpretentious customers who require stability rather than records.

New Chieftec Navitas power supply units come equipped with a single +12V bus that covers 100% power. Hence, it’s possible to integrate the models into the latest system configurations. All of them correspond to 80 Plus Gold standard, achieving up to 87% efficiency in a wide range of operational conditions.

Their other peculiarities involve a fully modular cable system, the availability of a low-noise 120 mm fan, the support for Active PFC technology and all known protection features (i.e. OPP, OTP, UVP, OVP, SCP).

To continue, Chieftec Navitas GPM-450S ensures 450-watt power on +12V rail & up to …

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4 Review

The second generation of AMD A-Series hybrid processors, announced earlier in October, are already integrated in a number of graphics solutions. The newly appeared products are compatible with Socket FM2 only and cannot be applied for Socket FM1 infrastructure. This implies that a number of motherboards lose their upgrade facilities and can't be updated with a new advanced solution. Still, the market is currently ready to present a few boards destined to operate with the updated AMD A-Series. Gigabyte is one of the pioneers in this respect, introducing its motherboard GA-F2A85X-UP4, developed specifically for Socket FM2.

Gigabyte GA-F2A85X-UP4 is designed in ATX form-factor with 305x244 mm PCB dimensions. AMD A85X chipset is a heart of the motherboard; it secures the compatibility with A-Series (second gen.) APU and Athlon CPUs in the implementation of Socket FM2. The overall TDP level claimed for the model is not more than 100W. The PCB allots four DIMM slots …
