Dell Teases a Couple of IPS Monitors: P2417H & P2717H

Dell is about to launch a pair of monitors targeting office PC systems as well as standard home multimedia systems. The P2417H (24-inch display) and the P2717H (27-inch display) are fitted with a high-quality IPS panel with an integrated LED backlight. Both models feature 16:9 aspect ratio and Full HD resolution – 1920x1080 pixels.



The implemented array offers 6 ms response time in GtG environment. The top brightness index makes up 250 & 300 cd/m2 respectively. Both new-comers share the widest possible viewing angles (178/178 degrees) and are able to display up to 16.7 million colors. Static contract index equals to 1000:1, whereas dynamic ratio approximates 4M:1.


Dell P2417H and Dell P2717H boast a rich inventory of external interfaces: a pair of USB 2.0 ports, the same number of USB 3.0 ports, one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 1.4 port, and one analogue D-Sub port. The first display is thought to consume 19 W power, while its companion is known to consume 23 W power.

PowerColor Intros New Graphics Card with Fling Force Cooler

TUL Corporation, in the framework of its PowerColor brand, introduces a new graphics card with quite an original way of air cooling organization. The new-coming adapter, codenamed PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 Fling Force, employs 'two-storied' cooler of an unusual structure. Along with an aluminum heatsink, copper heat pipes, and a voluminous fan, the manufacturer implemented non-monolithic fan ribs. Their tips are fixed to the main part in a way to change their location relative to the plain of rotation.



On conditions of low rotational speed, tips of the ribs are located at approximately 80 degrees angle relative to the graphics card. On conditions of heightened speed, the ribs become more linear; this way, the impeller diameter enlarges from 92 mm to 95 mm. Such structural approach to the fan framework develops into an improved performance and air cooling effect.

Intel Claims Its Clover Trail More Efficient than Tegra 3

The stonewall in the tablet and mobile CPU segment is gradually mounting, with Intel and Nvidia increasing their influence and rivalry. Hence, Intel's developers claim that its latest tablet processor, two-core Atom Clover Trail, surpasses Nvidia's Tegra 3 in both performance and power consumption. To be precise, Clover Trail proves to be more efficient in a range of applications, but at the same time, it consumes power twice less than its counterpart. To exemplify such claims, Intel takes Imagination Technologies graphics that consumes less power than Tegra 3.



Numerous testing results conducted by Intel and some leading IT analysts demonstrate that Tegra 3 with four main cores and one additional core is slower that Clover Trail. Testing of performance and power consumption has been held on Microsoft Surface RT with Tegra 3 chip and Windows 8 tablet with Clover Trail chip. Nevertheless, Intel hasn't conducted any comparison in mobile OS from Google.
