Chieftec Launches Smart SFX-500GD-C Power Supply

Chieftec has been always known as a quick-change artist in the hardware market. As a rule, SFX power supply units can’t boast high power or productive cooling. However, far otherwise is Chieftec that proves the contrary. Its latest Smart SFX-500GD-C solution is a combination of an astounding efficiency and a full-blown 120 mm fan. Due to this, the model has been certified to work as a part of Nvidia SLI and AMD CrossFireX graphics configurations.

Chieftec Smart SFX-500GD-C features 125x135x64 mm dimensions. Offering 500 W power, it provides for more than 90% efficiency in the majority of workloads. Herein, there in small wonder that this model has won 80Plus Gold certificate. Reliability is the other distinctive feature ascribed to this PSU. It is backed by a single +12V rail with the output capability of 40A. An overall charging power of +3.3V and +5V rails makes up 150W.

This allows for the creation of a high-performance system with a flagship CPU and a top-tier GPU. …

SilentiumPC Offers a Budgetary Fortis 2 XE1226 CPU Cooler

SilentiumPC, a comparatively ‘fresh’ player in the cooling market, has recently introduced a new CPU cooler for budget-oriented customers. Codenamed Fortis 2 XE1226, it features 130x95x155 mm dimensions and weighs 880 g. It is intended to support the majority of modern platforms, including Intel LGA 775/1366/2011/115x and AMD FM1/FM2/AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+.

The model is all about two-section aluminum heatspreader with a copper polished base, six U-shape heatpipes (6 mm each), and a single 120 mm fan DF12025. The latter is based on a hydraulic bearing and supports PWM technology. It is able to alter speed from the minimal 500 RPM to the maximal 1500 RPM. Herein, the ultimate noise level does not go beyond 22 dBA.

The DF12025 fan requires 12V rail and 0.2A current to be powered via 4-pin PWM connector. On the maximal rotational speed it produces 65 CFM airflow. Besides, testing results prove that this fan is estimated for about 50.000 hours of fail-proof operation.

EKWB Launches a New Water Block for GV-N680SO-2GD

Early August of 2012 was marked for Gigabyte by the release of its one more graphics card, codenamed GeForce GTX 680 SOC (GV-N680SO-2GD). This card can boast the availability of high factory frequencies and quite mighty cooling system. The nominal frequencies have been heightened to 1137MHz, 1202MHz, and 6200MHz for memory. Such outstanding characteristics required the integration of a high-quality and high-performance cooling system which consisted of five(!) fans. This made the card rather voluminous, cumbersome and noisy. That was when EKWB decided to design a dedicated water block to be employed with this remarkable graphics adapter.

Water block EK-FC 680 GTX SOC is housed on a copper base, good-quality acetal cover, and rubber shims as a compressor. The model is delivered with pre-installed fixing stands to facilitate the installation. It should be noted that this water block entirely covers the frontal part of the graphics card, along with the adjacent RAM modules and …
