Intel to Take Care about Power-Efficiency of Ivy Bridge Processors

The rising competition between the two giants in the manufacture of processing units, Intel and AMD, makes each of the two invent ever newer technologies and implement them in their products. The attempts to dominate in the market and win as many consumers usually develop into brand new approaches and brand new advanced facilities.

In this light, Intel is going to upgrade its Ivy Bridge processors to make them more power-efficient. But power-efficiency does not imply that processing units will show less performance; quite the contrary, the manufacturer is willing to combine an utmost performance with the maximal power efficiency level.

Currently, the most power-saving processors of Ivy Bridge generation can be found in mobile devices on Windows platform and in Apple MacBook Air devices. Their TDP level is recorded at 17W. As appears from the above mentioned, the TDP level in upgraded Ivy Bridge processors will be lower than 17W, though the developers do not voice the margin …

Low-Profile Cooler Noctua NH-L12 Review

Noctua, an Austrian developer and supplier of high-end cooling systems, is well-known for the design of versatile products which are able to satisfy the needs of any consumer, starting from average home users and finishing with devotees of overclocking. The recent Noctua creation is the low-profile CPU cooler destined to be employed in HTPC systems and other compact chassis. This cooler is characterized by the horizontal localization of radiator that allows its installation into a quite narrow casing. At the same time, the model is efficient enough to manage high-performance advanced processors.

Design and Framework

Noctua NH-L12 is notable for the classic design and framework. It features 150x128x93 mm dimensions (with two fans) which barely speak of low-profile form factor. NH-L12 is compatible with different CPU sockets, including Socket AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, LGA 2011/1366/1156/1156/775. A Few Days Left till the Launch of E2080HSD from iiyama

Iiyama Corp., a renowned Japanese supplier of TV and PC displays, is going to launch a new 20-inch monitor in several days. Codenamed E2080HSD, a new product extends ProLite series and features 478x204x351 mm dimensions. The monitor is notable by outstanding saving characteristics, since it consumes 35% less power than analogous displays from other suppliers: the level of power consumption does not exceed the index of 16W in operational mode, and on conditions of EcoMode activation, this level might be reduced at 15% more.

Monitor iiyama ProLite E2080HSD is based on TN panel type with white LED light. Featuring 20-inch display, it differentiates itself by 1600x900 resolution, 250 cd/m2 brightness, 5 ms array response time, and 1000:1 static contrast index. Horizontal and vertical viewing angles differ a bit from other similar displays and equal to 85 and 80 degrees correspondingly.

The model is equipped with two stereo speakers (1W each), a single DVI and D-Sub video …
