Foxconn Introduces Two Motherboards on Intel NM70 Chipset

Foxconn is proud to introduce a pair of new mini-ITX motherboards, developed on Intel NM70 chipset. Entitled D70S-P and D70S-PD, this couple is intended for the incorporation into small-sized, power-saving and low-noise PCs, workstations, network and multimedia stations. Both new-comers are initially equipped with two-core Intel Celeron U1037 CPUs (Ivy Bridge generation). They operate at 1.8 GHz and consume 17 W only.

Foxconn D70S-P and D70S-PD feature an integrated Intel HD Graphics core that ensures smooth and quality imaging on movie watching (support for Full HD resolutions), game playing (with average demands), Internet surfing, and work with various applications. Cooling of all crucial components, including the key computing block, is secured by means of an aluminum heatsink with an onboard low-profile fan. Despite the dimensions, 170x170 mm only, the product allows for the incorporation of any contemporary hardware pieces.

Therein, memory block consists of a single …

Nvidia Debuts with GeForce GTX 770 Graphics Adapter

Trailed by the flagship GeForce GTX 780 model, Nvidia officially launches one more high-performance graphics adapter of 700 series, codenamed GeForce GTX 770. Albeit the two products are rather similar in design (i.e. the incorporation of identical two-slot cooling system), their layout differs considerably. First of all, GTX 770 employs less efficient graphics core Nvidia GK104-425-A2 (28 nm) with 1536 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. At the same time this GPU operates at higher frequencies: 1046 MHz (nominal), 1085 MHz (dynamic).

Nvidia’s new entry comes either with 2 GB or 4 GB video memory modules of GDDR5 type. They employ 256-bit interface and ensure high bandwidth of 224 Gb/sec. Memory operational frequency is truly striking, demonstrating up to 1752 MHz (nominal) and up to 7010 MHz (dynamic) index. It should be noted that models with 4 GB modules will cost $50 more than those with 2 GB items (the recommended price makes up $399).

To continue, GeForce GTX 770 …

One-Shot MSI Z170A Tomahawk Mainboard Review

Arsenal Gaming is a specific lineup of motherboards in MSI’s portfolio. It embraces 7 different models, joined under military-style codenames. The units are targeting primarily gaming community, although the Z170A Tomahawk is a universal solution at an affordable price. As distinct from the comrades, it features a set of controllers & sockets which are considered to be remnants of the past. Let’s find out what kind of advantages this board offers.

CPU & Memory

Motherboard MSI Z170A Tomahawk is developed on Intel Z170 Express chipset. It supports LGA1151-compatible CPUs of the 6th generation (Skylake): Intel Celeron/Pentium/Core i3/Core i5/Core i7. The hardware rests on a 4-layer dark PCB (304x224 mm, ATX) with red PCI-e and RAM slots. The rear panel is differentiated by the availability of a backplate for the CPU socket. The integrated ISL95856 controller is accountable for the providing power to the CPU (3+5 VRM).

The board comes with four DIMM slots for the …
