ASRock Announces a New Mini-ITX Motherboard AD2550-ITX

ASRock, a well-known supplier of high-quality PC hardware, tries not to leave chances to its competitors in the development of new products and their delivery to potential customers. Hence, the company has recently announced the release of a new mini-ITX motherboard AD2550-ITX, intended for the incorporation into small-sized systems. As seen from the codename, the model employs dual-core Intel Atom D2550 processor, running at 1.86 GHz. It should be pointed out that AD2550-ITX resembles its predecessor AD2550B-ITX, launched last year, although the new-comer is differentiated by a more qualitative configuration.

The motherboard is based on black PCB that boasts the implementation of solid-state capacitors only. All key functional facilities are ensured by means of Intel NM10 Express chipset. The board houses a pair of 204-contact SO-DIMM slots which support DDR3-1066 MHz memory modules of up to 4 GB overall capacity. A couple of SATA 3 Gb/sec ports (for the connection of drives) …

Water 3.0: a New Series of Liquid Coolers from Thermaltake

Thermaltake, a viable designer of versatile PC hardware components, has recently unveiled its new series of liquid cooling systems. Entitled simply Water 3.0, the products constitute themselves as all-in-one cooling solutions with high efficiency and low noise level. The series is introduced by three models, — Water 3.0 Performer, Water 3.0 Extreme and Water 3.0 Pro, — targeting different customer groups.

All liquid coolers included into the lineup consist of a pump integrated into a waterblock, a copper base, a couple of 120 mm fans, and leak-proof pipes which protect the liquid from leakages or evaporation. Heatsink design is individual for each of the models. One should mention that Thermaltake delivers its liquid coolers with dedicated Windows-compatible software for the monitoring and adjustment of all key parameters, including fan rotational speed, liquid thermal conditions, and pump efficiency.

The first model, Water 3.0 Performer, features 120 mm heatsink of a …

Solid-State Drive OCZ Agility 4 Review

Up-to-date SSD manufacturers are inclined to employ MLC flash-memory with synchronous interface in their product lines. The implementation of exactly such memory interface allows balancing the advanced performance with moderate price. This is especially vital for SSDs with SATA 3 6Gb/sec interface. Nevertheless, some producers take the challenge to implement flash-memory with asynchronous interface in their drives. As a result, the final products go at more attractive price but with more modest speed characteristics. OCZ dared to overcome this speed drawback by releasing SSD Agility 4 series. The models included in the series are based on asynchronous flash-memory interface and, according to the company's words, prove to show quite decent speed index.

Chief Peculiarities

Despite the prevalence of SandForce controllers implemented in SSDs, OCZ decided to use quite different platform for its new series. Agility 4 employs Indilinx Everest 2 controllers which, in some way, …
