Sapphire Unveils Small-Sized R9 285 2GB GDDR5 ITX Compact Edition Graphics Cards

Optimized energy efficiency offered by AMD Radeon R9 285 graphics adapters has become a key factor for Sapphire to elaborate a pair of original proprietary versions. The new-comers, codenamed R9 285 2GB GDDR5 ITX Compact Edition, are targeting mini-ITX systems with huge performance ambitions. The pair traditionally involves a standard model with etalon specifications and OC model with a factory overclocking.



Both graphics cards employ a small-sized two-slot cooler that consists of a compact heatsink, four copper heatpipes, and a single fan of 100 mm dimensional type. Connection with PC monitors and other visual solutions is realized by means of HDMI, DVI-I, and a couple of mini-DisplayPorts. Additionally, the models feature dual BIOS chips (standard and UEFI) which might be switched with the help of a dedicated key on the case.

ID-Cooling Hunter Duet II Liquid Cooling System

ID-Cooling, being famous for its cooling systems, has released a Hunter Duet II cooler of large dimensions, which is supposed to transfer heat from the CPU and the graphics engine surfaces. This model is designed with a 360 mm heat sink, which is of great benefit to its efficiency factor.



The construction includes two water units with a base out of copper and built-in pumps, pipes in braided cable, the three-section aluminum 395 × 120 × 27 mm heat sink, three 120 mm fans, and an extraordinary framework with a 90 mm fan to blow over graphics card load-bearing elements and intensive plates for the CPU and GPU.


Though possessing similar construction, water units differ in lids design and the location of holes for liquid flow. At the moment their inner structure details are not available.

A compact fan to blow over VRM consumes 1.2 W. Its rotary speed is not higher than 1,500 rpm. The same ratio of each of the three main fans is not supposed to exceed 1,500–2,000 rpm.

EKWB Launches a New Water Block for GV-N680SO-2GD

Early August of 2012 was marked for Gigabyte by the release of its one more graphics card, codenamed GeForce GTX 680 SOC (GV-N680SO-2GD). This card can boast the availability of high factory frequencies and quite mighty cooling system. The nominal frequencies have been heightened to 1137MHz, 1202MHz, and 6200MHz for memory. Such outstanding characteristics required the integration of a high-quality and high-performance cooling system which consisted of five(!) fans.
