Gigabyte Showcases a Couple of Gaming Mainboards with Onboard Liquid Coolers

Gigabyte teamed up with EK Water Blocks in order to develop a pair of off-beat motherboards. The GA-X99-Ultra-Gaming-EK and the GA-Z170X-Gaming 7-EK are differentiated from their predecessors by the integration of EK-Supremacy EVO X99 & EK-FB GA-Z170X waterblocks. The latter is sure to cool down not only the CPU and its environment but also key components of the power subsystem.



Gigabyte GA-X99-Ultra Gaming-EK is developed on Intel X99 chipset, targeting Intel Core i7 CPUs for Socket LGA2011-3 platform. The PCB offers 8 DIMM slots for DDR4-3600 MHz memory (up to 128 GB), four PCIe 3.0 x16 expansion slots and a single PCIe 2.0 x1 slot. The ATX motherboard features 305x244 mm dimensions.

Arctic Cooling Unveils New Freezer i32 & A32 CPU Coolers

Arctic Cooling AG replenishes its line of CPU coolers with a couple of new-comers. The Freezer i32 and the Freezer A32 feature analogous dimensions (123x95x150 mm), but are targeting to work with different platforms. The first model is compatible with Intel Socket LGA 2011 and 115x platforms, whereas the second version is predestined for the CPUs targeting AMD AM2/AM2+, AM3/AM3+, FM1 and FM2 platforms.



Arctic Cooling Freezer i32 & A32 consist of an aluminum heatsink with 45 thin plates and four U-shaped 6-mm copper heatpipes which support direct touch technology. It goes without saying that these coolers come equipped with a fan. This is a 120 mm propeller that supports PWM technology; the latter enables the change of rotational speed from 0 to 1350 RPM. The maximal TDP level of the catered CPUs should not exceed 150 W.

Intel Claims Its Clover Trail More Efficient than Tegra 3

The stonewall in the tablet and mobile CPU segment is gradually mounting, with Intel and Nvidia increasing their influence and rivalry. Hence, Intel's developers claim that its latest tablet processor, two-core Atom Clover Trail, surpasses Nvidia's Tegra 3 in both performance and power consumption. To be precise, Clover Trail proves to be more efficient in a range of applications, but at the same time, it consumes power twice less than its counterpart. To exemplify such claims, Intel takes Imagination Technologies graphics that consumes less power than Tegra 3.



Numerous testing results conducted by Intel and some leading IT analysts demonstrate that Tegra 3 with four main cores and one additional core is slower that Clover Trail. Testing of performance and power consumption has been held on Microsoft Surface RT with Tegra 3 chip and Windows 8 tablet with Clover Trail chip. Nevertheless, Intel hasn't conducted any comparison in mobile OS from Google.
