Kingston Showcases New SSDNow KC300 Series

Kingston Digital, an established developer and supplier of highly efficient storage solutions, has officially introduced its new line of solid-state drives that entered SSDNow series. Entitled KC300, this line is targeted at a vast audience, starting from corporate clients and finishing with average customers. KC300 includes five models of 60 GB, 120 GB, 180 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB capacities. According to Kingston, the new entries are supposed to substitute the two preceding SSD lines: Kingston KC100 and Kingston V+200.



SSDs KC300 are designed in 2.5-inch form-factor and feature SATA III 6 Gb/sec interface. LSI SandForce SF-2281 controller is the heart of each drive model. All items included in the series support DuraClass, DuraWrite, S.M.A.R.T. and RAISE technologies that substantially enhance their efficiency. The same way, all the drives are able to complete an automatic data encoding by means of two integrated encoding engines, which work with AES-128 and AES-256 algorithms. …

Next year TSMC will start manufacturing the first 20nm chips

The Taiwanese company TSMC confirmed its intention to start production of chips using 20 nm technological processes in 2013. However, for now the company does not plan its production on an industrial scale and will release the first chips in a limited quantities, giving them a total of 1% of production capacity. According to the head of the company, the mass production of semiconductor chips with this technology will not begin until 2014.



Meanwhile TSMC Company is going to produce only one version of the chip, which will be able to enter into the wide range of devices, from smart phones with low-power to high-performance graphics cards. For comparison, the Taiwanese company currently has four different output chips on 28-nm technology. These are 28LP (poly / SiON) for low-power low-cost chips, 28HPL (HKMG) for use in low power applications, 28HP (HKMG) for high-performance chips and 28HPM (HKMG). The Highly Effective Galax GeForce GTX 1050 OC Graphics Accelerator

The Galax Company is ready to release the GeForce GTX 1050 OC graphics accelerator with a slight factory overclock.



This graphics card is based on the 14 nm Pascal GP107 graphics chip and features 640 streaming processors. The base and boosted core frequencies correspond to 1,366 and 1,468 MHz comparing to 1,354 and 1,455 MHz of reference units. There are 2 GB of GDDR5 memory with a 128-bit bus and with the frequency of 7,008 MHz. Being a Pascal-based device, this specialty is designed with FinFET technology and supports DirectX 12 for the fast and smooth gaming session.


The graphics accelerator is equipped with a one-fan cooling system (the diameter of the cooler is 90 mm). Displays can be connected via such ports, as DVI-D, HDMI and DisplayPort. The product takes two expansion slots in the chassis.


Galax GeForce GTX 1050 OC will be on sale since 23rd of December at the approximate price of $140.
