AMD Outs the World’s First Server FirePro S9300 x2 GPU

AMD has proudly announced the release of the world’s first server-grade graphics accelerator. Entitled FirePro S9300 x2, this GPU is called to facilitate in solving complex computing tasks and take graphics to the next level. The card is linked to the power unit by means of two 8-pin connectors, consuming up to 300 W power at most.

The heart of AMD FirePro S9300 x2 is a bundle of two AMD Fiji GPUs (GCN architecture). They feature a pair of 4096 stream processors and run at 850 MHz frequency. Each GPU employs 4 GB of HBM memory that operates at 1000 MHz clock frequency and offers 512 Gb/sec bandwidth.

The integration of two processing aggregates allows the accelerator to achieve some amazing 13.9 TFLOPS of computing power. As a result, the model exceeds in performance its nearest competitors: Nvidia Tesla K80 with 5.6 TFLOPS as well as Nvidia Tesla M60 with 7.4 TFLOPS.

The support for AMD GPUOpen stack is supposed to be the card’s key advantage. This stack enables …

PowerColor Intros New Graphics Card with Fling Force Cooler

TUL Corporation, in the framework of its PowerColor brand, introduces a new graphics card with quite an original way of air cooling organization. The new-coming adapter, codenamed PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 Fling Force, employs 'two-storied' cooler of an unusual structure. Along with an aluminum heatsink, copper heat pipes, and a voluminous fan, the manufacturer implemented non-monolithic fan ribs. Their tips are fixed to the main part in a way to change their location relative to the plain of rotation.

On conditions of low rotational speed, tips of the ribs are located at approximately 80 degrees angle relative to the graphics card. On conditions of heightened speed, the ribs become more linear; this way, the impeller diameter enlarges from 92 mm to 95 mm. Such structural approach to the fan framework develops into an improved performance and air cooling effect.

The model is based on Pitcairn chip, developed on Graphics Core Next architecture under 28 nm technological …

Patriot Memory Introduces External Wireless HDD

Patriot Memory, a leading American supplier of solid-state drives and memory modules, introduces a new external wireless HDD. Codenamed Gauntlet 320, the drive features 139x86x24 mm dimensions and offers 320 GB capacity. The possibility of connection to this HDD up to eight devices is supposed to be the basic privilege of this model. Besides, the data might be streamed to five devices simultaneously. This is an outstanding showing comparing to analogous solutions.

Gauntlet 320 is furnished with an onboard lithium-ion charger that is able to work in autonomous mode up to five and a half hours in succession. Network opportunities are introduced by an integrated Wi-Fi adapter of 802.11 b/g/n standard; this adapter is able to support WEP, WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK security systems. High data transfer speed is ensured by the implementation of two USB 3.0 ports which are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 interface. It provides for unimpeded music, video and image streaming facilities with …
