Intel Debuts with the 7th-Generation Core CPUs

Intel announces the next, 7th generation of Intel Core processors, aka Intel Kaby Lake. The Intel U and the Intel Y series models were the first to debut. Each series involves three models, based on 14 nm Intel Skylake microarchitecture. Optimized design promises 12% increase in performance, if compared with the 6th-gen solutions.



New Intel Core CPUs are known to support 10-bit HEVC & VP9 standards which ensure high-quality operation in 4K Ultra HD and 4K Ultra HD 360 environments. All greenhorns come with an integrated Intel Speed Shift technology which secures fast responsiveness on web surfing. Besides, all models are considered to be power efficient; they increase laptop’s/ultrabook’s battery life to 9.5 hours, when watching 4K video content.


Intel Core 7th generation processors support PCI Express 3.0 internal interface as well as NVMe & Thunderbolt 3 interfaces. More details about each CPU are provided below.

VivoPC X by ASUS Is a Small Desktop for Newbies Among VR-Gamers

The VivoPC X desktop computer by ASUS is not bigger than an Xbox One and weighs approximately 2.3 kg only, however, it’s a fully-featured PC, operated by Windows 10 and supporting VR. At the same time, it’s worth admitting, that the hardware is intended rather for beginners than for old hands at the game.



ASUS VivoPC X is equipped with a Kaby Lake Intel Core i5 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card and 8 GB of RAM memory. The 512 GB SSD is used for data storage, and the connectivity possibilities are provided by four USB 3.1 and two USB 2.0 ports. In addition, this novelty features 802.11ac Wi-Fi, the Gigabit Ethernet, two HDMI ports and a DisplayPort with the NVIDIA G-Sync technology support.


Inner components of the device are protected from overheating due to the heat pipe cooling system and plenty of vents.


ASUS VivoPC X will be on sale in March 2017 at the price of $800.

Nvidia Debuts with GeForce GTX 770 Graphics Adapter

Trailed by the flagship GeForce GTX 780 model, Nvidia officially launches one more high-performance graphics adapter of 700 series, codenamed GeForce GTX 770. Albeit the two products are rather similar in design (i.e. the incorporation of identical two-slot cooling system), their layout differs considerably. First of all, GTX 770 employs less efficient graphics core Nvidia GK104-425-A2 (28 nm) with 1536 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. At the same time this GPU operates at higher frequencies: 1046 MHz (nominal), 1085 MHz (dynamic).



Nvidia’s new entry comes either with 2 GB or 4 GB video memory modules of GDDR5 type. They employ 256-bit interface and ensure high bandwidth of 224 Gb/sec. Memory operational frequency is truly striking, demonstrating up to 1752 MHz (nominal) and up to 7010 MHz (dynamic) index. It should be noted that models with 4 GB modules will cost $50 more than those with 2 GB items (the recommended price makes up $399).
