OWC Refreshes Its Line of Portable Storage Devices

OWC, a developer and supplier of hardware solutions, has recently complemented its line of portable storage devices with a new model Mercury On-the-Go Pro. The preliminary data provided by the company claims that the new product will be based on triple interface template and will support USB 3.0 interface. However, this does not mean that the device won't be able to support USB 2.0 interface, since it will be backwards compatible with USB 3.0.

OWC Mercury On-the-Go Pro storage will be delivered in a refined transparent casing made of acryl. The nominal dimensions are 140x89x25 mm. The software kit will involve various applets for the backup of data (NovaBackup, Data Backup 3, Carbon Copy Cloner), as well as, a dedicated program for the monitoring over the storage condition and optimization of drives' performance.

The lineup of products will be represented by different modifications of the drives. Thereby, each customer will receive a chance to choose among several versions …

Toshiba to Release Entry-Level A100 Solid-State Drive

Toshiba is about to release a 2.5-inch SSD, entitled A100. The entry-level model is based on TLC NAND flash memory chips (15 nm) with the cooperation of SLC cache memory. Traditionally, the drive employs SATA 6 Gb/sec interface and takes Toshiba TC58NC1010 chip as a controller.

The greenhorn is available in two versions: 120 GB and 140 GB (dimensions: 100x69.85x7 mm). The couple is an optimal choice for home & office PCs, thanks to the incorporation of power-efficient, high-performance and shock-proof technologies. The drives’ maximal data transfer speed on sequential operations makes up 550 MB/sec & 480 MB/sec (read/write). The maximal data transfer speed on random operations (4K) achieves 87.000 IOPS & 82.000 IOPS correspondingly.

Toshiba A100 solid-state drives are known to support NCQ, TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. technologies. An estimated MTBF index equals to 1.5 million hours. The 120 GB item might endure 30 TB of written information, while the 240 GB item allows for 60 TB …

NZXT to Release Revolutionary Manta Chassis

NZXT has been always differentiated by an extraordinary design of PC chassis. This time the company decided not to drift off the course and introduced a revolutionary mini-ITX case. The Manta features 450x426x245 mm dimensions only, but it can accommodate an advanced system with quite powerful components. Exterior (black-and-white or black-and-red coloring) is notable for salient shapes and a stylish transparent window.

NZXT Manta offers enough internal space to build up a record-breaking mini-ITX system. It is ready to house a two-slot videocard of 363 mm in length, standard ATX power supply unit as well as a typical CPU cooler of 160 mm in height. The case boasts two expansion slots and promotes for brilliant opportunities to build a voluminous storage subsystem, consisting of two seats for 3.5-inch drives and three seats for 2.5-inch drives.

The connection of external peripherals is realized via two USB 3.0 ports & a couple of 3.5-mm audio ports.
