Oval CPU Cooler Xigmatek Colosseum SM128164 Review

Rivalry in the CPU cooling market is rather tough nowadays. Each and every manufacturer tries to exceed its competitors by elaborating high-performance and durable coolers. Some companies pay attention primarily to efficiency, while the others try to draw potential audience by an unusual design. Xigmatek, a renowned manufacturer in this segment, has been introducing qualitative and original solutions for many years. Its Colosseum SM128164 is a vindication of the assumptions that unusual in design coolers can be efficient. Let’s have a look at it.

Design and Framework

The Xigmatek Colosseum SM128164 at the first sight looks as an ordinary cooler of a rectangular form with the height of 157 mm. It consists of a heatsink block, a fan, a mirror-like base, and five heat pipes. The central pipe is larger than the other four: its diameter equals to 8 mm, whereas the side pipes feature 6 mm diameter. Nonetheless, if turning the cooler sideways, it becomes vivid that the item is a …

SilverStone Replenishes Its Nitrogon Series with Two Coolers

SilverStone, a Taiwanese manufacturer of high-end cooling solutions, has recently launched two new coolers codenamed NT01-PRO and NT06-PRO. Both models replenish the Nitrogon series and distinguish themselves by utmost compatibility. Hence, this couple is able to cool down practically all CPU systems developed by AMD and Intel, due to the support of sockets AM2, AM3, FM1, FM2 (AMD) and LGA775, 1155, 1156, 1366, and 2011 (Intel).

Coolers NT01-PRO and NT06-PRO consist of a copper-nickeled base, six heat pipes (6 mm each) and single-section aluminum heatsink. The first model NT01-PRO is delivered without nominal fans and features 140x97x120 mm dimensions. The customer gets the right to decide which fans, 70 mm or 80 mm, will provide more cooling effect to CPU. This cooler will benefit the most if integrated on the rear or top panel of PC chassis.

The second model NT06-PRO features 140x82x139 mm and is delivered with a single 120 mm fan. Its rotational speed is monitored by …

The Ribbed Design Turns Akasa Newton S7 Case into a Heatsink

The Akasa Co. keeps releasing cases for system cards, intended for Intel NUC series mini PCs. The latest Akasa Newton S7 sample is aimed at Intel NUC7i5BNH, NUC7i5BNK, NUC7i3BNH and NUC7i3BNK sets boards, and the most important matter for replacing a standard case with a new one is aluminium utilization, providing passive CPU cooling. The framework upper lid and sides are made ribbed to perform the role of an effective heatsink.

On the front panel there are two USB 3.0 ports, the power button, the infrared sensor, as well as the headset and mic jack. The back panel has two connectors for removable antennas of wireless modules. Inside there is enough space for a 2.5-inch drive, not higher than 9.5 mm.

The Akasa Newton S7 framework’s modest dimensions (176.5 x 200 x 53.5 mm only) and the standard VESA mounting let fix this specialty on a display’s back panel.
