Greeting Affordable Brix GB-BPCE-3350 Mini-PC from Gigabyte

Gigabyte has surfaced a budget-oriented mini-PC of Brix series, entitled Brix GB-BPCE-3350. The new-comer is designed on Intel Apollo Lake CPU (14 nm) and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 500 graphics core. The Intel Celeron N3350 operates at 1.1 GHz frequency but might be overclocked up to 2.4 GHz (TDP – 6 W). The GPU runs at 200-650 MHz frequency.

Gigabyte Brix GB-BPCE-3350 comes with a pair of SO-DIMM DDR3L memory modules which operate at 1866 MHz frequency (maximum of 8 GB). Storage subsystem is introduced by a single SATA III port and microSD card-reader. The availability of a single M.2 2230 slot ensures the model’s expansion facilities. Initially, this slot is occupied by Wi-Fi + Bluetooth adapter (Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168).

To continue, this mini-PC employs a couple of controllers – Realtek ALC255 & Realtek RTL8111HD – which take care of audio and network subsystems. The front I/O panel offers a pair of USB 3.0 ports, one D-Sub port and one 3.5-mm …

ASMedia to Introduce USB 3.5 Controllers in 2014

ASMedia, an auspicious designer of PCIe bridges, USB 3.0 controllers and Switch IC items, announces the development of a new USB 3.5 controller. According to the preliminary information, this controller is going to support 10 Gb/sec data transfer speed, which is nearly twice higher than current USB 3.0. Earlier the launch of an advanced component was scheduled for late 2014, however, now the company is intended to officially introduce it early next year.

The decision to elaborate a speedier controller is explained by ASMedia in two ways. Firstly, the company is currently receiving more orders from motherboard manufacturers for the development of USB 3.0 hubs, due to the recent launch of Intel Haswell CPUs. Nonetheless, an enforcement of platform will sooner or later require an enforcement of various facilities, including connectivity and data transfer.

Secondly, USB 3.5 is called to rival Thunderbolt interface. It should be stressed that both interfaces feature analogous …

Asus Outs 24-Inch VG245H Monitor

Asus is known for innovation. There is small wonder that its latest monitor, entitled VG245H, supports AMD FreeSync technology via HDMI, although initially this facility was available only via DisplayPort connection. It goes without saying that it’s not the only attraction of a new 24-inch monitor with 16:9 aspect ratio.

Asus VG245H is based on TN panel with Full HD resolution (1920x1080). Its response time index makes up 1 ms, whereas viewing angles still should be improved (170/160 degrees). The display is housed on a functional stand which supports height, tilt, swivel, and aspect adjustments. According to Asus, the dynamic refresh rate might vary from 40 Hz to 75 Hz; such stunning showings ensure top-tier imaging without artifacts.

The integrated panel ensures the maximal brightness index up to 250 cd/m2, dynamic contrast index up to 100M:1 and the display of up to 16.7 million colors. There is a possibility to connect audio peripherals thanks to the inbuilt 3.5-mm …
