Motherboard Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H TH Review

Each new year brings new ideas for the developers of PC hardware. Since motherboards are indisputably the main component in the PC integration, their design and facilities are given the most attention. Hence, each manufacturer tries to implement some unprecedented technologies to attract potential audience by an improved performance and possibilities. Intel Thunderbolt technology is a hit of 2012; that is why, motherboard designers turned their looks into this direction. Gigabyte was among the first companies to integrate Thunderbolt interface into its products: model Z77MX-D3H TH is a bright evidence of it.

Integration

Motherboard Gigabyte Z77MX-D3H TH resembles the modification of its predecessor Z77MX-D3H, except for the availability of Thunderbolt interface and design of PCB. The renunciation of the third PCIe x16 slot allowed the manufacturer to free four lines of PCIe bus and employ Thunderbolt technology for their activation. As a result, a new product has got a …

New Thunderbolt Edition Graphics Card from Zotac

Zotac, a well-known designer of graphics solutions, has developed a unique in design graphics card. Entitled Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Thunderbolt, this card is heading a new Thunderbolt Edition series that is considered to be a more affordable product than Extreme series. The novice is equipped with an original PCB and an effective cooling system.

Zotac GeForce GTX 660 Thunderbolt is primarily characterized by a unique cooling system that consists of a large aluminum heatsink, three cooper heat pipes which get in contact with GPU from one side, and a couple of 100 mm fans. It should be mentioned that Zotac developers have realized a dedicated Eclean technology in their card that enables a hassle-free demounting of fans and top cover with the purpose of cleaning the cooler from dust.

GK106 chip, designed on Kepler architecture under 28 nm technological process, functions as the basic element in GeForce GTX 660 Thunderbolt card. It involves 960 CUDA cores and operates at 980 MHz …

PowerColor Outs an Overclocked Radeon R9 270 OC Graphics Card

Along with other AMD partners, PowerColor has elaborated its own version of Radeon R9 270 adapter. The PowerColor Radeon R9 270 OC is differentiated from rival products by an improved cooling system and factory overclocked frequencies. Its release is scheduled for late November and the retail price won’t hit over $180.

To begin with, this graphics card is naturally based on AMD Curacao Pro GPU, developed under 28 nm technological process. It consists of 1280 current processors, 32 ROPs and 64 TMUs. The core runs at 930 MHz frequency and is able to gain 955 MHz frequency on overclocking. The incorporation of GDDR5 memory (2 GB) with 256-bit bus interface ensures some striking bandwidth of 180 Gb/sec; this provides for the support of gaming applications with high resolution. Memory chip operates at 1400 MHz nominal frequency but might gain the index of 5600 MHz of effective frequency on overclocking.
