Noctua NF-S12A: High-End Fans for Customers with No Financial Constraints

Fans from Noctua have been enjoying great popularity among customers with no financial constraints for a long time already. Austrian manufacturer gets used to offer only qualitative and exclusive products, ensuring the maximal operational effect. Its new fan models, combined under a single codename NF-S12A, are a bright evidence of quality and performance. The series has been elaborated with each and every detail in consideration, thus the price tag is corresponding: $22.

Noctua NF-S12A series belongs to the third generation of PC chassis fans. Developed in 120 mm dimensions, the series is introduced by three models: ULN 600/800 RPM, PWM 300-1200 RPM, and FLX 700/900/1200 RPM. All three fans employ a self-stabilizing oil bearing SSO2 as the basis. Its assumed time of foolproof work is estimated as 150 thousand hours.

Their framework is distinguished by a 7-blade impeller with 'drops' on vanes; these drops are called to prevent the fans' cessation on slow operation. The …

Asus Launches Black-and-White Version of GTX 950 Adapter

Asus has added to its product line a graceful black-and-white videocard, based on GeForce GTX 950 adapter. The heart of the model is an overclocked GM206-250 GPU. Its key differentiation is the possibility to operate in two modes: Gaming – 1076/1188 MHz (base/dynamic) clock frequency & OC – 1102/1279 MHz (base/dynamic). The customer is free to switch between the profiles where relevant.

The GPU, featuring 768 CUDA cores, 32 ROPs and 48 TMUs, is paired with 2 GB of GDDR5 memory that runs at reference 6610 MHz frequency (128-bit rail). The interface panel consists of three video outputs: HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort and DVI-I.

The PCB boasts the implementation of Super Alloy Power II components as well as totally automatic hardware assembly line. The latter became possible thanks to Asus Auto-Extreme technology.

As far as cooling is concerned, Asus GeForce GTX 950 (codename: GTX950-OC-2GD5) is equipped with a two-slot cooler. Its framework embraces an aluminum heatsink …

The Forthcoming Switch to 5 mm HDD Models

Nowadays HDD segment is represented by various products from various companies. However, with the development and release of ultrabooks, manufacturers directed their production to the hybrid-type drives. This resulted in the predominance of hybrid solutions in the market.

Recently Itel has advanced a motion to digress somehow from the production of hybrid drives and switch to the decrease of traditional HDDs dimensions to 5 mm in casing depth. According to the company's assumptions, such change could moderate the price for drives and provide the necessary volume capacity for ultrabooks.

Some manufacturers have already directed a part of their technological powers to the design of HDDs with 5 mm casings. Nevertheless, there appeared a couple of obstacles on their way: the necessity to stabilize data reading and writing activities, and increase of costs spent on drives' production. This will result in the rise of end price.
