Shuttle to Introduce a Small-Sized Budgetary Nettop DS47

Shuttle, an outstanding Taiwanese mini-PC and barebone-systems developer, is going to introduce its new nettop model DS47. The presentation will be realized within the boundaries of Computex 2013 exhibition which will take place in early June. According to the preliminary information, the product features 200x39.5x165 mm dimensions and weighs 2.05 kg.

Shuttle DS47 is based on Intel Celeron 847 processor, running at 1.1 GHz, and comes with an integrated Intel HD2000 graphics. CPU TDP level equals to 17 W. This model accommodates 16 GB RAM (SO-DIMM) of DDR3-1333 MHz type. Its internal layout is estimated for the incorporation of a single 3.5-inch HDD or a pair of 2.5-inch HDD/SSD with the support of SATA 6 Gb/sec interface.

The availability of mini-PCI Express connector with the support of mSATA interface gives the user a chance to expand the system with one more solid-state drive. In addition, Shuttle equips this nettop with a half-size mini-PCIe connector for the …

Nvidia Makes a Stab at a New GeForce GT 640 Version with GDDR5 Memory

The Internet is filled with rumors about the upcoming release of a new graphics adapter from Nvidia manufacturers. According to the available information, Nvidia is going to update its recently introduced GeForce GT 640 with DDR3 memory type version and to implement advanced tools in their novice product. The implementation of GDDR5 memory will result in the perceptible increase of bandwidth, as well as, of clock speed.

The new graphics card is supposed to exceed its prototype and predecessor in overcklocking showings too. This improvement will be achieved due to the integration of power connector 6-pin PCIe. To contrast both models, the latest version with DDR3 memory employed PCIe expansion slots as power supply tool.

The newer version will be able to operate on 950/5000 MHz, while the older one used to show 797/1782 MHz. GeForce GT 640 (GDDR5) will be based on GK107 processor with 384 CUDA cores and 128-bit memory bus. It is supposed that the memory volume capacity is …

Intel Debuts with Skull Canyon NUC Mini-PC

Skull Canyon was designed to dispel stereotypes about low efficiency of compact-sized PCs. Intel tried hard to take its mini-PC to the next level. Hence, the company furnished it with a 4-core Core i7-6770HQ CPU (Skylake) with support of Hyper-Threading. It features 6 MB L3 cache, 45 W TDP and runs at 2.6/3.5 GHz frequency. The CPU incorporates Intel Iris Pro Graphics 580 (GT4e) graphics core with 72 computing units and an additional eDRAM of 128 MB (frequency index: 350-950 MHz).

Intel Skull Canyon is housed in a stylish case with skull logo, featuring 216x116x23 mm dimensions & 0.7 liters capacity. The model accommodates a pair of So-DIMM DDR4-2133+ slots, allowing to install up to 32 GB of memory. Storage subsystem might be organized thanks to a pair of M.2 slots which support SSDs with SATA or PCI Express x4 interface.

This mini-PC comes with Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8260 adapter that is thought to support Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. The rear panel …
