AMD Highlights Plans for the Transition to the 28nm Process

AMD is a company known for the continual and elaborate work on the development and improvement of all product lines, as well as technological standards. Thus, the coming 2013 year is supposed to be portentous for the company in terms of the implementation of 28nm standards in their APU. AMD has recently voiced the plans for the change of the Trinity APU to a new model, codenamed Richland, and the transition to 28nm technological process.

The new APU, Richland, is presumably to be released in two versions: dual-core and quad-core. It will support a number of high-performance technologies, such as Blu-ray 3D, dual graphics, Open CL, AMD turbo core overclocking, and some others.

According to the preliminary information, Richland will employ FM2 socket (which Trinity employs) and Radeon 8000 series DirextX 11 GPU. This GPU will be furnished with 128 cores in dual-core model line, and with 384 cores in the high-end A10 APU. The same number of cores has been implemented in …

Meet WinFast GTX 960 Hurricane Adapter from Leadtek

Leadtek expands its production line with a brand version of GeForce GTX 960 videocard. Entitled WinFast GTX 960 Hurricane, the model is differentiated by factory overclocking and a powerful dual fan cooling system. Initially, the company will launch a 2 GB version but later on there might appear a 4 GB version.

Leadtek WinFast GTX 960 Hurricane is based on GM206 GPU with 1024 CUDA cores, 10 SMM, and 64 ROPs. It runs at 1228 MHz frequency but might be overclocked to 1291 MHz frequency. The integrated 2 GB GDDR5 memory with 128-bit interface operates at 7010 MHz index. Furthermore, this videocard consumes up to 120 W power.

Cooling system consists of two fans and a voluminous heatsink. All integrated video interfaces found their place at the rear panel: three DisplayPort ports, one HDMI 2.0 and one DVI-I. By the way, the nominal delivery set offers a dedicated DVI to VGA adapter.

What is more, similar to other GTX 960 solutions, Leadtek’s graphics card is known to …

MSI Unveils GeForce GTX 900 Gaming Graphics Couple

Following a long-lived trend in PC hardware market, MSI has unveiled its two new videocards of GeForce GTX 900 (Maxwell architecture) series just after Nvidia’s official release. The MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G and the MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G models boast both, identical and dissimilar features with their reference companions. But all in good time.

Videocards from MSI are characterized by analogous with Nvidia’s models memory subsystem. Hence, it has 4 GB of GDDR5 memory modules with 256-bit interface, 224 Gb/sec bandwidth, and 7010 MHz efficient clock frequency. Quite the contrary, both GPUs differ from the etalons, chiefly due to the integration of Gaming App brand utility; the latter enables GPUs to run in one of three available modes: Silent, Gaming and OC.

The MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G operates at 1051 MHz/1114 MHz/1140 MHZ at the start (showings for three modes) but might be overclocked to 1178 MHz/1253 MHz/1279 MHz respectively. The MSI GTX 980 Gaming 4G runs at 1140 …
